Electricite du Liban contract workers warned on Monday that Lebanon will plunge in darkness if the parliament endorses an urgent draft-law proposed by Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan, considering it a “conspiracy.”
The contract workers closed the gates of the company's headquarters in Mar Mikhael, burning tires in its premises to protest the draft-law, which they argue it contradicted the agreement they had reached with the government of ex-Prime Minister Najib Miqati when they lifted their 95-day sit-in last year.

The Change and Reform parliamentary bloc on Tuesday called on the government to “provide the proper political and security atmospheres” for holding the upcoming presidential election on time, calling for keeping the issue of disappeared persons away from political bickering.
“Solutions can only come through activating the work of state institutions and the political system we have, so that we can securely hold the presidential election,” MP Ibrahim Kanaan told reporters after the bloc's weekly meeting in Rabiyeh.

The Change and Reform bloc stated on Tuesday that it has proposed a number of plans to tackle the situation in Arsal and other Bekaa towns.
MP Ibrahim Kanaan said after the bloc's weekly meeting: “The plans seek to rescue Arsal and the Bekaa towns from the ongoing flow of Syrian refugees and gunmen.”

The Change and Reform bloc lashed out at Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Tuesday, accusing him of contradicting with the clauses of the Bkirki Charter.
"We are the party that values the Bkirki Charter and no one should explain it in different terms to serve their interests,” MP Ibrahim Kanaan stated after the bloc's weekly meeting.

Government formation process has reached a deadlock after a dispute over the cabinet's ministerial statement between the political foes, local newspaper reported on Thursday.
Sources told As Safir newspaper that the cabinet formation is expected to be delayed as the March 14 alliance is holding on to its conditions to include the dissociation policy in the ministerial statement and excluding the the formula of the “Army,people, and resistance.”

The Free Patriotic Movement expressed on Friday optimism concerning the cabinet formation process, stressing that the party aims at facilitating the matter in an attempt to safeguard the country.
“We are completely positive regarding the cabinet lineup and our hand is reaching out to everyone in order to include everyone in the new government and confront the dangers facing Lebanon,” Caretaker Energy Minister Jebran Bassil said in comments published in As Safir newspaper.
Change and Reform MP Ibrahim Kanaan said on Tuesday that the Finance and Budget Parliamentary Committee worked on three aspects to rectify the new wages scale decree, which was issued by the cabinet in March.
“We were able to rectify the cabinet's decree and allocated new revenues for the treasury,” Kanaan the head of the committee said in a press conference.
Change and Reform MP Ibrahim Kanaan, head of the Finance and Budget Parliamentary Committee, referred on Saturday the new wages report to the parliament's General Secretariat.
Kanaan will hold a press conference next week to explain the results reached by the committee and the drafted modifications.

The Free Patriotic Party expressed surprise on Friday over Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea's rejection to meet with the party's Change and Reform parliamentary bloc to discuss the political standstill in the country.
“We have no hidden intentions... Every side has its impact on the local situation and can contribute in resolving the complications amid the ongoing crises,” FPM MP Ibrahim Kanaan said in comments published in al-Joumhouria newspaper.

The Syndicate Coordination Committee vowed on Tuesday to go on strike if the Finance and Budget Parliamentary Committee, which is headed by MP Ibrahim Kanaan, failed to refer to the parliament the decree aimed at increasing the salaries of public sector employees.
Kanaan said in comments published in al-Joumhouria newspaper that the committee discussed on Monday the decree, which still needs a final drafting that would be wrapped up in the upcoming two days.
