Malaysia said Sunday that police had searched the homes of the pilots of a missing jet and examined a home flight simulator after revelations that the flight was deliberately diverted triggered a full-scale criminal probe.

As a multi-nation operation began a new push to locate the vanished Boeing-777 somewhere within a vast arc of land and ocean, criminal investigators sought other clues to the fate of the Malaysia Airlines plane.

India's Supreme Court on Saturday stayed the death sentence of two of four men convicted of the fatal gang-rape of a student in New Delhi, an attack that shocked the country and sparked weeks of protests.

The court suspended the execution of the two men, Mukesh Singh and Pawan Gupta, while an appeal is heard and asked authorities to "communicate the order to prison authorities".

An apartment block collapsed in the Indian financial hub Mumbai on Friday, killing six people and injuring three others in the latest of a series of deadly building cave-ins, authorities said.

The High Court rejected an appeal by the four who were sentenced last year to hang following a trial over the attack on the 23-year-old student on a moving bus in the capital in December 2012.

One of Indian Kashmir's best-known separatist leaders, Sayed Ali Geelani, is battling an acute respiratory infection and has been flown to New Delhi for hospital treatment, a party spokesman said Thursday.

Geelani, 84, has for years suffered from multiple health ailments including a heart condition that requires a pacemaker and serious kidney problems.

India's home minister on Wednesday vowed to exact revenge for a deadly ambush by Maoist rebels, as undercover agents tried to track down the attackers in their forest hideouts.

"The way our soldiers have lost their lives, we will definitely take revenge for this," Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters on a visit to the central state of Chhattisgarh, a day after the attack which left 16 dead.

Maoist rebels killed at least 16 people in a massive attack on security forces in central India Tuesday, less than a month before the country holds a general election.

Security officials and police sources said the victims were all killed when up to 200 rebels ambushed a patrol in forests in Chhattisgarh state, sparking a major gun battle that lasted for three hours.

One Indian worker was killed in an accident during construction of a nuclear submarine, a defense statement said Sunday, the latest in a string of deadly mishaps to hit the navy.

Two other workers were injured in the incident late Saturday afternoon at a ship building center in the southeast coastal city of Visakhapatnam, the Defense Research and Development Organization statement said.
