Gaza-Bound Ship Takes on Food, Activists Off Greek Coast

A sailing ship with pro-Palestinian activists that is planning to break an Israeli blockade of Gaza took on food and passengers off the southern Greek coast, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The Estelle, which first set off from Sweden and left Naples in Italy on October 6, stopped in international waters off the island of Crete Tuesday afternoon, where it loaded up with food and passengers.

Netanyahu 'May Endorse Report Backing Settler Outposts'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to adopt parts of a controversial report which proposes the government legalize unauthorized settler outposts, Israel's public radio said on Wednesday.

According to the radio, Netanyahu is looking to adopt some of the principles laid out in the so-called Levy report which was put together by three prominent Israeli jurists and presented to the ministerial committee on settlements in July.

Report: March 8 Says Miqati's View on Hizbullah Drone Does Not Reflect that of Govt.

A dispute emerged on Tuesday between Prime Minister Najib Miqati and other ministers over the Hizbullah drone that was launched over Israel on October 6, reported As Safir on Wednesday.

March 8 sources told the daily that Miqati's opinion on the drone “reflects his own view and not that of the government and therefore it is not binding.”

Israel Launches Airstrike on Gaza after Rocket

Israeli airplanes carried out a sortie in the Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning, the army said, hours after a rocket from the enclave exploded in southern Israel.

Military "aircraft targeted a terror activity site in the northern Gaza Strip. A direct hit was confirmed," a statement read.

Miqati: Confronting Israeli Violations Mustn't Occur without National Consensus

Prime Minister Najib Miqati on Tuesday stressed that any retaliation to Israel's violations must enjoy “national consensus,” after Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah boasted Thursday that his group had sent a drone over Israel and noted that Hizbullah has the right to keep sending UAVs as long as Israel is violating Lebanon's airspace.

“The effectiveness of any Lebanese stance or military action in the face of Israel's violations … must not happen without national consensus, in terms of both the timing and the method,” Miqati said at the beginning of a cabinet session at the Grand Serail.

Abbas to Obama: Talks with Israel after U.N. Statehood Vote

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas has told the United States that he intends to resume peace talks with Israel if his bid to win U.N. non-member recognition for Palestine succeeds.

"President Mahmud Abbas sent a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday, in which he affirms the commitment of the Palestinian side to the two-state option," official Palestinian news agency WAFA quoted Abbas political adviser Nimr Hammad as saying.

Palestinians Block Road over Settlers, Access

Palestinians briefly blocked a West Bank highway on Tuesday in protest at settler attacks and to demand its opening to local traffic, an AFP correspondent and the army said.

The correspondent said around 100 Palestinian demonstrators, along with Israeli and foreign activists, gathered on route 443 near Beit Ur village, five kilometres (three miles) west of Ramallah, blocking traffic on a key road linking Jerusalem with the coastal plain.

Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour denied on Tuesday media reports quoting him as saying that Hizbullah's drone over Israel had not violated United Nations Security Council resolution 1701, his media office said in a statement.

Tomb of Israeli General Moshe Dayan Vandalized

Vandals daubed offensive graffiti on the grave of celebrated Israeli general and war veteran Moshe Dayan overnight, his family said on Tuesday.

Dayan, who served as defense minister during the 1967 Six Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippor, died of a heart attack exactly 31 years ago, on October 16, 1981, and was buried in a cemetery in Nahalal moshav near the northern city of Nazareth.

Israel Sets January Date for Early Elections

Israel's parliament voted Tuesday to dissolve itself and hold early elections on January 22, a move championed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu whose coalition is leading in the opinion polls.

The dissolution of the Knesset was approved by 100 votes to none in a third reading after a lengthy session in the 120-seat chamber.
