Family of former Palestinian ambassador urge Lebanon to not extradite him

The family of former Palestinian ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabbour urged Lebanese authorities to not extradite him after authorities in Ramallah requested his transfer over corruption allegations.

Lebanon's public prosecutor ordered the arrest of Dabbour, ambassador from 2012 to 2025, last week after questioning him based on a warrant from the Palestinian Authority over corruption and embezzlement during his tenure, a judicial official told AFP at the time.

US general expected in Beirut on Monday

U.S. General Joseph Clearfield is expected to arrive in Lebanon today, Monday from Israel, where he met with the Israeli army chief and military officials, media reports said.

During his talks with the Lebanese Army leadership, he will tackle a host of files related to the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations, the second pilot zone, and the possible international force that could replace UNIFIL, al-Akhbar newspaper said.

Report: US asks Beirut to remove Hezbollah from Ali al-Taher as group clings to it

Hezbollah is against handing over the Ali al-Taher ridge to the Lebanese Army in the current period and “according to Resolution 1701, the area north of the (Litani) River is linked to a national defense strategy,” Hezbollah sources told Al-Jadeed television.

The Americans meanwhile asked the Lebanese delegation to the Rome negotiations that the ridge be handed over to the Lebanese Army, Al-Jadeed said.
