The Lebanese Army on Tuesday received 47 military Humvees and five trucks as part of the U.S. assistance programs allocated to the Lebanese Armed Forces, the army said.

“This donation comes within the framework of U.S. support for the military institution, aiming to enhance its operational capabilities and raise unit readiness,” the Lebanese Army said in a statement.

A delegation from the British Embassy in Beirut, led by Chargée d’Affaires Victoria Dunne, visited south Lebanon last week to see first-hand the impact of the conflict on local communities and reaffirm UK support, the British Embassy said Tuesday.

In Saida, the delegation met Mansour Daou, Governor of South Lebanon and Acting Governor of Nabatieh, to discuss current challenges, the support needed to strengthen local resilience and recovery planning.

President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam “have begun admitting in their private circles and to close associates that the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations have failed to stop the aggression and end the Israeli occupation,” al-Binaa newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said Tuesday that the U.S. administration and President Donald Trump are the only parties capable of pressuring Israel to end its war on Lebanon.

"The main obstacle to implementing the ceasefire agreement is Israel's non-compliance with its obligations under all past accords," Berri said.

U.S. Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent met Monday with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Finance Minister Jaber Yassine in Washington.

Bessent said the meeting discussed the need for "decisive action to disrupt Iranian and Hezbollah financial networks" and the importance of key financial sector reforms to restore confidence in Lebanon’s banking system.

The Israeli military set off on Monday significant explosions in the southern Lebanese villages of Mansouri, Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh and Aitaroun, while Israeli artillery shelled Baraashit and Mayfadoun.

"A massive explosion rocked the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district a short while ago. The explosion was carried out by Israeli occupation forces," Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported Monday.

Free Patriotic Movement chief Gebran Bassil has noted that the Lebanese people had “embraced” Hezbollah’s armed struggle against Israel because it “liberated the land and defended the nation against those who aggressed upon it.”

“However, they will not embrace Hezbollah if it forces political choices upon the State and its citizens that they do not want. It is of no use to win a military or political battle only to lose the idea of Lebanon -- the idea of equal partnership within it,” said Bassil in an op-ed commemorating slain Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah that he published in al-Akhbar newspaper.

France prosecutors on Monday sought two years with an electronic tag and a five-year ban on public office for ex-culture minister Rachida Dati in a trial on corruption charges linked to dealings with the Renault-Nissan group.

They sought a four-year jail term for Carlos Ghosn, the fugitive former Renault-Nissan chief now living in Lebanon, who is being tried in absentia as part of the same trial in Paris.
