Unknown assailants opened fire on Friday at an army position in the eastern Bekaa region of Arsal, reported the National News Agency.
It said that the gunmen attacked the army post in the outskirts of Arsal at dawn on Friday.

Speaker Nabih Berri revealed that the agreement on paying the salaries of public sector employees was reached with Prime Minister Tammam Salam during a meeting they held earlier this week, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Friday.

A rocket was fired overnight on Friday from the South towards Israel, announced the army in a statement.

An Australian woman of Lebanese origin was barred from leaving Lebanon after her ex-husband's family filed a complaint against her claiming she has been visiting her “boyfriend” in the northern city of Tripoli since arriving in the country on June 20.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon ruled on Thursday that trying al-Jadeed television over contempt does not fall into its jurisdiction, dismissing hence the charges filed against the TV network.

Several Lebanese nationals were onboard an Algerian plane that went missing Thursday during a flight from Burkina Faso to Algiers.

Outgoing United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon Commander Major General Paolo Serra said on Thursday that despite the challenges and the sporadic incidents in the South “unprecedented stability was achieved during the past eight years.”
