Hezbollah said early on Monday it was fighting Israeli forces who landed in eastern Lebanon by helicopter across the Syrian border, the second such operation since the outbreak of the latest conflict with Israel.

During the day, the group claimed responsibility for at least 10 attacks against Israel and its forces, including against troops that advanced into Lebanese border towns and a missile salvo on an air base in Haifa.

President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam are working on a "political-military initiative," political sources said.

"The military aspect is related to the need for the Lebanese Army to enter all Lebanese territory," the sources told Al-Jadeed TV.

Israel struck the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh in southern Lebanon on Sunday, Lebanese state media reported, amid the new war between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah.

Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed 394 people in the past week, including 83 children and 42 women, the country's health minister said Sunday.

Rakan Nassereddine also said at a press conference that nine rescue workers were among the dead, condemning attacks on medical teams and ambulances.

More than 100 Iranians, including some diplomats, were evacuated from Beirut overnight on a Russian plane, a Lebanese official told AFP on Sunday.

"A total of 117 Iranians, including diplomats and embassy staff, were evacuated on a Russian plane that left Beirut overnight from Saturday to Sunday," the official said on condition of anonymity.

The health ministry said Sunday that an Israeli strike on a hotel in central Beirut killed at least four people, with Israel saying it had targeted commanders from Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

Lebanon was drawn into the Middle East war on Monday, when Hezbollah attacked Israel in response to the killing of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during U.S.-Israeli strikes.

The Israeli military on Saturday warned the remaining residents of Beirut's southern suburbs, where Hezbollah holds sway, to evacuate immediately.

Lebanese Army chief Rodolphe Haykal said Saturday that the Israeli soldiers who made helicopter landings in east Lebanon wore military uniforms similar to those of the Lebanese Army and used military vehicles and ambulances similar to those of the Hezbollah-linked Islamic Health Authority.

Haykal added that Israeli attacks targeting Lebanon were hindering the implementation of the army's plan to disarm Hezbollah.

Israel's military on Saturday warned residents in a district of Lebanon's Tyre to evacuate ahead of strikes, and reiterated a demand for people to leave the area south of the Litani River.

The Israeli military's strikes on east Lebanon, where Israeli forces carried out a commando operation, killed 41 people, the Lebanese health ministry said on Saturday.
