UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in his latest report raised concern about Hizbullah’s weapons saying it could “jeopardize the stability of Lebanon and the region,” Asharq al-Awsat newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Kataeb Party chief MP Sami Gemayel on Monday addressed a parliamentary question to the government regarding the so-called Hizbullah border tunnels in southern Lebanon.

Gemayel asked whether “the necessary investigations have been conducted to identify the side that bypassed the Lebanese authorities and legitimacy represented in the Lebanese army and security forces.”

U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis on Monday held talks with Prime Minister Saad Hariri and hailed what he called the “very strong performance” of Lebanon and the premier at the Brussels conference on refugees.

“I am very grateful that His Excellency the Prime Minister is giving me his time frequently and regularly. This is very important as well due to my forthcoming meeting with the Security Council of the United Nations next week in New York,” Kubis said after the talks.

President Michel Aoun said Monday that he has vowed to build th Lebanese economy, fight corruption and address the refugee crisis.

Lebanese Forces Armed Commander General Joseph Aoun left on Monday to Cyprus on an official visit leading a military delegation the National News Agency reported on Monday.

In light of reported tension between Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil, assurances surfaced on Monday that both have no intention to “escalate the situation or start a political battle” with the other, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Monday.

The Miyeh Miyeh Palestinian refugee camp east of Sidon witnessed “limited tensions” on Sunday between members of the Fatah and Hamas movements, the National News Agency said.

The agency said the tensions erupted after an altercation between two members of the two movements that escalated into gunfire.

MP Mario Aoun of the Free Patriotic Movement on Sunday accused al-Mustaqbal Movement of “violating governmental solidarity” through its latest stances, amid a war of words between the two movements.

“Al-Mustaqbal Movement’s stances through the media are certain political stances during the period in which the Brussels conference was held and they somehow have violated governmental solidarity,” Aoun told Radio Liban in a phone interview.

Free Patriotic Movement chief and Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil announced Sunday that he “should not have become a minister” in the new government.

“Today I will tell you something I say for the first time: I should not have become a minister… I was obliged for the sake of the FPM, the President and the country, but God willing, I will leave at the first chance, for the sake of myself, my interest and my position,” Bassil said at an FPM conference.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s media office said in a statement on Saturday that the Premier is in Paris for a regular health check-up.

The Premier will fly back to Lebanon as soon as the tests are complete, added the statement.
