The father of U.S. intelligence leaker Edward Snowden has held an "emotional" meeting with his son for the first time since the fugitive took refuge in Russia to escape U.S. justice, a report said Friday.

Lon Snowden met his son after arriving in Moscow from the United States on Thursday, Interfax quoted an informed source as saying, without specifying the time or place of the meeting.

Top Chechen Judge Murdered in Chechnya

A judge and businessman from the troubled Russian republic of Chechnya were found dead Wednesday alongside a road in a neighboring region, officials said.

Adam Agakhadzhiev, a judge in Chechnya's arbitration court, and businessman Isa Atayav were gunned down by unknown individuals next to a road in Karbadino-Balkaria, investigators said in a statement.

The Netherlands Apologizes for Russia Envoy's Detention

The Netherlands on Wednesday apologized to Russia after police in The Hague detained one of its diplomats over the weekend amid an escalating spat, the foreign ministry said.

Putin Says Syria 'Very Actively' Cooperating on Disarmament

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Syria was "very actively" cooperating with chemical weapons inspectors and suggested that Indonesia join international peace talks on the crisis.
