Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri assured on Tuesday that the Lebanese will stay united behind the army in its confrontation against aggression following an attack at an army position in north Lebanon that killed one soldier and wounded another.

“We will remain united to face any assault on our army and security forces,” said Hariri via Twitter.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri held consultations Monday with President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace after which he pledged to maintain good ties with Speaker Nabih Berri.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri stressed on Monday that there are no disagreements between him and President Michel Aoun on the process of lining-up the new cabinet.

“We are in agreement with the President on everything. There are only some difficulties,” said Hariri after meeting Aoun at the Baabda Palace.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri has started to feel that the cabinet formation obstacles arising from the tensions between President Michel Aoun and Speaker Nabih Berri are also targeted against him as a new premier, a media report said on Sunday.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and Lebanon's banks will launch a “preemptive battle” to keep Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh in his post after the formation of the new government, a media report said.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri announced Monday that the election of a new president in Lebanon and the formation of a new government represent an opportunity to “revitalize” Lebanon's ties with the Arab Gulf states.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri stressed on Saturday after concluding the consultations with lawmakers to form a new government that the atmospheres were generally positive, as he assured that joint cooperation with President Michel Aoun and Speaker Nabih Berri continue in that regard.

“I will brief the President as for the consultations. All the atmospheres are positive since we all want to form a new government as fast as possible,” said Hariri.

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri held consultations with the country's former premiers on Thursday evening in line with a long-standing Lebanese norm of visiting ex-PMs in the wake of the designation of any new premier.

Newly designated Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced after his designation on Thursday that he will begin his national duty with openness to all political blocs even those that abstained from naming him, as he assured that he will form a national unity government.

“President of the Republic General Michel Aoun honored me by asking me to form the government. I accepted, and would like to thank him for his confidence and the confidence of the deputies who honored me with this national assignment. I will be open to all parliamentary blocs, including those who did not name me, in accordance with our constitution and our democratic values,” said Hariri from Baabda Palace.
