The Saudi-led coalition bombing Yemeni rebels since March declared a five-day truce Saturday so aid can reach a country the U.N. says is on the brink of a humanitarian disaster.
Announcing the unilateral truce to begin from midnight Sunday, a statement on the official Saudi Press Agency said the coalition also reserved the right to respond to "military activity or movement" by the Shiite Huthi rebels during the ceasefire.

Iran's top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Kuwait, Qatar and Iraq this weekend, the ISNA press agency said Friday, following a landmark nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
The accord, struck on July 14, which imposes certain controls on Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for a lifting of crippling economic sanctions, is expected to form the basis of discussions during Zarif's trip.

Saudi Arabia on Thursday played down the significance of a visit by Hamas leaders, saying it was only a religious pilgrimage and Riyadh's position on the Palestinian Islamist movement was unchanged.
"There was no (political) visit by Hamas to the kingdom," Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry.

EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini will visit Iran and Saudi Arabia next week following the agreement she helped broker with Tehran on its contested nuclear program, her office said Thursday.
The talks in Saudi Arabia on Monday will cover "regional issues, in the aftermath of the agreement reached on 14 July on the Iranian nuclear issue, as well as international issues of common interest," a statement said.

Lebanese Forces official Melhem Riachi informed Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun on Thursday that Saudi Arabia encourages the rapprochement between the two parties.
Riachi, who is LF chief Samir Geagea's envoy, delivered a message to Aoun during a visit he made to Rabieh that Riyadh “backs and encourages Christian rapprochement,” local media reported.

Saudi leaders on Wednesday sought reassurance from U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter over a deal curbing Iran's nuclear program in exchange for an easing of economic sanctions.
Carter held talks in the Red Sea city of Jeddah with King Salman and his powerful son, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is defense minister and second-in-line to the throne.

Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea accused Iran of thwarting the presidential elections in Lebanon through its ally Hizbullah, reported the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat on Wednesday.
He told the daily: “The presence of a president will weaken Hizbullah's role in Lebanon.”

Four members of a Saudi family were killed Tuesday when their car hit a stray camel in the desert kingdom, the Red Crescent said.
The accident took place in the southwestern region of Jazan, Red Crescent spokesman Bishi al-Sarkhi said in a statement carried by SPA state news agency.

Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea, a candidate for the country's top Christian post, has accused Iran of causing Lebanon's presidential deadlock.
“Iran is responsible for the obstruction of the presidential elections in Lebanon,” Geagea told pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat in an interview published on Tuesday.
