Palestinian Shot Dead at Southern Camp

A Palestinian man was killed on Saturday over a dispute on the implementation of an infrastructure project at the Rashidiyeh camp near the southern city of Tyre, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said Ahmed Majed Awad, 32, died after Ghanem Daher, also a Palestinian, opened fire at him.

Army Arrests 9 Syrians on Terror Charges

The army arrested on Wednesday a number of Syrians on suspicion of their links to terrorist groups.

It said in a communique that nine Syrians were detained in al-Hinnieh in the southern city of Tyre and in al-Labweh-Arsal region in the Bekaa.

Saudi Arabia Prohibits Import of Spoiled Thyme from Dahieh Producer

Saudi Arabia prohibited the import of a large quantity of thyme from a producer located in Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahieh because the product did not meet food safety standards, reported the National News Agency on Monday.

It said that inspectors from the Health and Economy Ministries inspected Adonis Spices factory in al-Rihab area in Dahieh.

Woman Killed after Man Denied Entry to Kaslik Nightclub

Security forces said on Monday that they arrested a man suspected of murdering a young woman in the coastal town of Kaslik that lies north of Beirut.

H.H. was apprehended in the Bir Hassan neighborhood of Beirut's southern suburbs on suspicion of killing Elianne al-Safatli near a nightclub in Kaslik, police said.

'Hashish-Stuffed Potatoes' in Latest Prison Smuggling Attempt

Police guards at the Tyre prison on Saturday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of hashish that was hidden in a number of potatoes.

“Palestinian national M. A., 22, was arrested after he tried to smuggle a quantity of hashish that was stuffed into 16 potatoes in a crafty manner,” the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.

A 24-year-old Lebanese has given birth to premature quintuplets in the southern city of Tyre, the state-run National News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Aya Jameel Haidar had quintuplets – three girls and two boys – at the Hospital of Jabal Amel in Tyre, NNA said.

A wanted man was killed on Thursday in a shootout with the Lebanese army in the southern city of Tyre, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said a military patrol was chasing a car with five passengers when they exchanged fire with the troops in the area of al-Bass.

Borj el-Shamali Municipality Gives Syrians Ultimatum to Evacuate Encampment

The Municipality of Borj el-Shamali in the southern district of Tyre gave Syrian refugees on Monday a 48 hours ultimatum to evacuate their tents and leave the town or they will have to bear the consequences.

“The decision was taken to safeguard the Syrian workers and to maintain the security in the area,” head of Borj el-Shamali municipality Ali Deeb told the state-run National News Agency.

Army Finds Platforms Used to Fire Rockets at Israel, UNIFIL Slams 'Extremist' Act

Two rocket launchpads were found Sunday in the southern region of Tyre, from which two rockets were fired overnight Saturday at northern Israel.

“At 22:30 on Saturday unknown assailants fired two rockets from Dheira town”, three kilometers (nearly two miles) from the border with Israel, the army said in communique on Sunday.
