An expat Lebanese boxer has been murdered in the Canadian city of Vancouver and the motives are likely sport-related, a media report said on Saturday.

“Alaeddine Ramadan, a 20-year-old boxing champion in the Canadian city of Vancouver, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday night,” LBCI TV reported.

A strong earthquake measuring 6.7 struck late Wednesday off Canada's Vancouver island in the Pacific, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, which hit at 03:10 GMT, was at a depth of 11.4km (7.1mi) and 94 km (58 miles) south of Port Hardy, Canada.

A Vancouver woman earned widespread notoriety Tuesday for stealing back her bicycle from a thief after seeing it advertised online.

Korean Airlines said in a news release that the call center received the threat Tuesday about 25 minutes after take-off from Vancouver International Airport. Airline officials said they decided to turn the aircraft around.
