U.S. funding and training
The original ranks of the group contained several members who have been trained by the U.S. in Saudi Arabia in order to participate in the Soviet Afghanistan war, fighting against the Soviets.

anyway discussing this has no point, i wont bother explaining how sunburns are unstoppable by currently available counter-measures on board US ships, and i guess we will only know how well iranians mastered solid fuels when they actually use their missiles.
ps: the reason why i picked up warrior's mention of the USS enterprise is because it's now one of the oldest carrier in the american fleet and probably not their best asset against iran. it's just a famous brand that made cool because it was used in many movies.
