i actually thought the rebels faired brilliantly in bab amr fending off an army for a month with small weapons and also being able to transfer the families and the reporters to lebanon under the regime nose!. just imagine the damage they could do once they get some serious weapons, and dont worry weapons are on the way.

The US and russia both agree tacitly on Assad departure (only an idiot in politics could imagine a peaceful solution with assad in power); however, it seems they both agree on increasing the suffering of the Syrian people until they agree to the solution imposed eventualy by the world powers i.e yemeni style. The US wants the army/government intact in any solution to keep the status quo with israel, russia also agrees on that and wants to ensure its own interests: this is the real reason behind the temporary support for assad. Russia could care less if ties between the future damascus and iran are severed. Major changes in the Syrian regime will take place but not dramatic ones. Russia/US both agree on severing the iranian component. They also agree on keeping considerable power in the hands of the minorities. Remember how long the yemeni ordeal took?? the outcome was the departure of the president but significant status quo "stability" remained.

i doubt its gona be as rosy.. due to the idiocy of people like mowaten (and they are many) we most likely will see the rise of suni fundamentalism in syria/lebanon to counter hizbustan.. when that day comes people like mowaten would yetra7amu on 7ariri days and would understand that suni/she3i moderation is a top lebanese interest.

Nazi people who dont see beyond their nose..they do not see that the rise of suni fundamentalism would fall out of control and we might very well see a civil war that burns us all. These idiots think that they can prevail over the vast majority of arabs/muslims. The conversion of Syria into another afghanistan (well in the works unless the world intervenes) would potentially throw the minorities including the she3a into the laps of israel for protection.
