@Gabby: your problem is that you trust Naharnet text too much. This is not the first nor will be the last inaccuracy in translation or reporting here. If you read the actual news reports in Arabic, communicated by Hizbullah, it said that Abu Zainab relayed the "Salutations" or "Greetings" of Nasrallah to Al-Rahi for the Holidays, which by the way, include Christmas and New Year). Here's the Arabic text:
استقبل البطريرك الماروني البطريرك الماروني مار بشاره بطرس عصر اليوم في بكركي، عضو المكتب السياسي في حزب الله غالب ابو زينب، ناقلا اليه تحيات الامين العام للحزب السيد حسن نصرالله بمناسبة الاعياد المجيدة.
I read ignorant comments such as "Hizbullah is nothing without weapons" and I laugh. It must be true that some people are living in a shell and do not see what is happening around them.
Hizbullah success among the Shia community is not only due to the liberation of the South. It is also due to the extensive social and medical assistance network they have built (in lieu of the Lebanese State which failed in that area). If/when the weapons of the party are gone, it will remain as strong as it has always been.
Guys, yes there were millions of Armenians killed and displaced, but there was killing on the other side too (Armenians killed Turks also). The Turks just happened to be the winners in this case, and by the way, this seems to be the first case where the winner did not get away with writing his own version of history!
Bad news for the losers here: Iraq has just announced that Daqdouq can only be charged with illegally entering the country. The charges that the Americans (and the losers here) would like to level are considered heroic from an Iraqi perspective :)
