"تم تعيين نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء السابق الياس المر رئيسا لمؤسسة الانتربول من اجل عالم اكثر امانا لمدة سبع سنوات"، بحسب الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام.
وأفادت معلومات صحافية، الثلاثاء، أن "اللجنة التنفيذية للإنتربول أقرت بالإجماع مساء الإثنين تعيين نائب رئيس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية ووزير الدفاع الأسبق في لبنان الياس المر،، رئيساً لمجلس إدارة مؤسسة الانتربول، ورئيساً للمؤسسة (من أجل عالم أكثر أمانا)، وذلك لفترة سبع سنوات".
وأضافت أن " المر سيعمل على تعزيز أولويات الإنتربول الاستراتيجية في مجال مكافحة الإرهاب والجريمة المنظمة عبر الوطنية، ودعم الجهود التي تبذلها المنظمة لجعل العالم أكثر أمانا وسلامة".
وفي هذا السياق، اعرب الأنتربول عن "شكره المر على التزامه بعمل الإنتربول وبرؤيته المتمثلة بجعل العالم أكثر أمانا من خلال تعزيز التعاون الدولي بين أجهزة الشرطة في العالم أجمع في إطار الجهود المشتركة المبذولة لمكافحة الإرهاب والجريمة المنظمة عبر الوطنية".
كذلك أقرت اللجنة التنفيذية للإنتربول بالإجماع إنشاء مؤسسة الإنتربول من أجل عالم أكثر أمانا.
وقد اتُخذ هذا القرار قبل الدورة الـ 82 للجمعية العامة للإنتربول المنعقدة حاليا في كولومبيا.
