Is it not time now to get rid of these camps? Is it not time to return these camps back to their real owners? Since 1948 they've been here, isn't time the Arabs take them to their own lands? Why should the smallest Arab country keep having to shoulder the refugee problems? Why must we continue fighting someone else' war, be it Palestinian or Syrian? Why can't we just live in peace instead of in pieces? When shall we have a real Lebanese leadership that will have the guts to speak it loud and clear, that we must no longer carry that burden? When will we have a courageous leadership that will not be bought for any cash, and that will champion finally the departure of all refugees from our land? The Palestinian presence, now added to the Syrian one, is indeed a ticking time bomb, only waiting for that fatal spark.

yeah right, lets deport palestinians...

question 1 : how & to where ?

question 2 : what about christian and shia palestinians that received citizenship ? what about armenians ? ALL should be deported, innit ?

Thumb -phoenix1 15:33 ,2014 نيسان 07

FD, Michael Owen, or better know as Michel Aoun, can't argue with that.

Thumb -phoenix1 15:37 ,2014 نيسان 07

Cedre if you toned down a little bit, you would have noticed that I did not post confessionally, but nationaly and patriotically. When I said Palestinians, I mean them all, irrespective of sect, OK? My preocupation is Lebanese and I honestly care less for anything else. Again, if you stayed calm, you could have asked me, how. Ultimately yes, deportation will be the end result, but after having agreed with those Arab countries deemed decent enough to take their fair share and quota and over a fair period of time. I keep repeating that it is grossly unfair to burden us little Lebanon with such problems, fair share, yes, unfair share, hell NO! Then sorry to correct you, I personally know of many Christian Palestinians and no, they have not been given nationality. I feel that you still calculate in sectarian demographic terms, but that's not how I calculate.

Thumb -phoenix1 15:46 ,2014 نيسان 07

JB, the Palestinian is a person I consider an ungrateful guest. He is getting a lot more than he would get in any other country, and for all I know, he is our number one ailment. Even today, he, the Palestinian keeps reflecting their dead boss's views, Yasser Arafat who at one time was promised by the Kissinger plan to be given Lebanon as a substitute state to them. Arafat the fat rat even said it, that the roda to Jerusalem passed thru Jounieh and went as far as declaring himself on French TV that he was indeed president of Lebanon. Well, the poor guy miscalculated that the Christians were a lot lot tougher to crack.

cedre. Are you out of your mind? you want to naturalize palestinians?
Under what logic? To reward them because they tried to kick christians out of lebanon during the civil war? This is ABSOLUTELY out of the question. You have zero faithfulness towards your fellow lebanese, and think exclusively along sectarian lines. You learned nothing of the civil war? If sunnites vote to keep them in, better then to split the country. But we will NEVER naturalize them.

Regarding Pals christians or shias. Same fate as pals sunnites. Doesnt matter. Our country is not their country and will never be.

Regarding the armenians. They were here from the beginning. Lebanon became their country in the 20s. They have been naturalized. And as a bonus they are a positive addition to lebanese society. So stop drawing baseless parallels.

phoenix, don't tell me that, go directly to their embassy and ask them...Sure they will accept... Now lets be realistic...

Thumb -phoenix1 16:21 ,2014 نيسان 07

I am in downtown Beirut, please Cedre, where are their embassies, I am a bit lost. Now to being realistic, Palestinians cannot stay, a lot of our problems are because of their presence. Realistic again and without any disrespects to you sir, the sectarian demographic game is being played out here, in the hope that together with the Syrian influx, numbers could one day speak, but as I said again, despite the vehement disagreement that you may put up, the main stumbling block remains, (A) Hezbollah, and (B), the Christians of Lebanon and here it unites both LF, FPM, Marada, Kataeb etc...You may want to object to this, but anyone here will readily attest to the fact of demographics and those who are here to counter them. With all due respects.

Thumb cedre 16:33 ,2014 نيسان 07

phoenix, just sit down for 5 min and think about this.
If there was a demographic game played by sunnis, we wouldn't ask citizenships for palestinians, we would just marry them, and in one generation lebanon would be a sunni country.

How come lebanese sunnis marry so few palestinian women, when syrian, jordanian, iraqi, egyptian and GCC people do ?
I know lots of greek orthos that married Syrians, but few lebanese sunnis do relatively...
So is it really a demographic game by sunnis or just a fait accompli ? Do u mean that lebanese are happy of syrian civil war and its refugees ?

1 of every 10 Palestinians is a Christians. Even if your theory is correct granting the Christian Palestinians citizenship will not make a dent in the population demographics. I am sure one of 9 Sunni Palestinians has already found a way to gain citizenship.
The more moderates Muslims become the less Christians would have to fear and worry about their presence and existence. Look what is happening to the minorities throughout the Middle East - They are all becoming endangered species.

I would put the distinction on Armenians being peaceful and not carrying arms to fight Turkey. The PLO on the other hand established State within a State and together with the Sunnis of the 70s labored to break the back of the Government and the army. THis is why I say Kudos to Harriri who moderated the Sunni street significantly fromm where they were few decades ago. HA on the other hand, took the Shia3 from being moderated to becoming Mullah Lunatics.

Coolmec, I'm keeping out of the personal jolts, but bro I dunno why I love poking this Shouf gay of Bani Maarouf in the eye. Like our brothers FT and Wolf said, their explanation is not far-fetched, it does make a lot of sense. I feel that come morning, the gay will rise earlier than his usual 3:30 pm routine to buy a couple more tablets to bring up some new skeletons and profiles to vent his anger as usual, like, "lack or this or lack of that", Jeez, so gay this thing.

Thumb Loubnani 01:33 ,2014 نيسان 08

phoenix, with all due respect, I think I read you say something about tolerance etc... so why is it that you keep calling people gay as if it's an insult or something? I mean I respect you but that does show some lack of tolerance. You are better than that man.

Thumb -phoenix1 00:16 ,2014 نيسان 08

Bani Maarouf, 3ayb 3aleyk ya gay, this ba3asto language is going too far. But if you were trying to derail me, it won't work, and if Cedre follows you, it will do him no honor either. All I can say is that you are a racist gay, with no tolerance, and if you believe that being a Druze makes you a superior race to the rest of us, then think again. But you see, I knew that you were not clean from the beginning, coming up with so many aliases. What do you use, a PC, plus a tablet and a smartphone to post simultanuously? You're truly a shameful thing, rest assured, I will not respond to you in kind, but well, your being a gay, what should we expect anyway?

Thumb -phoenix1 00:20 ,2014 نيسان 08

Cedre, please, leave the sectarian thing out of it, don't let the gay guy influence you, either speak your mind and if you can't but go sectarian then just calm it down. It's not like you, so please ya man, tone it down, either we talk in a clean manner, or take five and do a rethink. The gay thing keeps proding you into a bad type of debates and quite honestly it's so unlike you.

Thumb -phoenix1 00:23 ,2014 نيسان 08

The gay thing being Bani Maarouf, who posts using a laptop, plus a tablet, plus smartphone, almost at the same time, but each one for one of his skeletons, he can't hide his hatred for the LF or Bachir, yet loves the smell of Geagea's butt. Dunno, strange taste this Bani has.

Thumb -phoenix1 00:26 ,2014 نيسان 08

Right on Christian Guy brother, Armenians are our brothers, Palestinians are our enemies, and anyone who supports them, should follow them, out of Lebanon, wou bass.

Missing VINCENT 02:25 ,2014 نيسان 08

Phoenix1 and like minded others above have made the correct analysis about compering the Armenians with the Palestinians in the context of whether affording naturalization to the Palestinians as a whole is for the best interest of Lebanon. The Lebanese people who welcomed the Armenians as "brothers & sisters" felt happy with satisfaction that they are able to feel content with their gracious welcome of the Armenians. Almost all the Armenians joined, entered the Lebanese tent and made it a better place to live, but the majority of the Palestinians "stayed outside the tent and are still pissing inside it with the misguided notion that they were going replace the tent". This is the difference.

Thumb Loubnani 00:58 ,2014 نيسان 08

However, with all that being said, their situation is truly sad. Think about it. These people lost their homes, their lives and their land to live in such shitty conditions. Be humane, people, Palestinians are not just evil gun carrying monsters. Some are babies, toddlers, children, women and so on. I would love them to go back to their home or to any other country where they can have a normal life but no one wants them or is willing to help with that.
So what do we do? Something we definitely have to do is to disarm them. The next thing however is to have the state rule over them with all the responsibilities that comes with it.

Thumb -phoenix1 01:16 ,2014 نيسان 08

Loubnani, nothing sad about the Palestinians, they are ungrateful guests, they are not welcome anymore here, except by those who still dream of demographics. Some dreams though are not meant to be. Let them go man, who cares for such ungrateful people.

Thumb Loubnani 01:28 ,2014 نيسان 08

phoenix I know how ungrateful that have been. Trust me I know. I also know that they are human beings and that not all of them are bad people. How can we label them all that way? They are still people. The problem we have in this world is that we forget that people are not intrinsically bad but can be manipulated to do bad things. I want them to go but go where? It is easier said than done. It is not in our power to let them go, is it? While awaiting that day we should spread the state's control over these camps, disarm them and because we too are human maybe give them some very basic human rights. Keeping them lawless as they are will only lead to more problems, more death and more tragedy for all...

Thumb Loubnani 00:59 ,2014 نيسان 08

As soon as I read the title of this article I knew there's going to be a heated "debate" fueled with insults right and left.
People, I am sure all of you and I mean all of you agree that disarming the Palestinian camps is necessary. Of course it is. Not only are they a threat to the hosting country but also to themselves. When you have poverty fueled with gun power you have misery and death which can easily spiral out of control.
I am sure you all agree that what the Palestinians did during our war is unforgivable. It's like inviting someone into your home and they end up raping your wife kind of thing.

Thumb -phoenix1 01:10 ,2014 نيسان 08

Yow Wolf bro, now I am beginning to understand the problem with our gay friend from the Shouf, the gal does feel wrong bro, very wrong.

Thumb Loubnani 01:47 ,2014 نيسان 08

@wolf 3 members of my family were killed by Palestinians and 2 were killed by the PSP, 2 killed by the Lebanese forces and 3 by the Syrian forces. Evil is not defined by race or nationality. My point is this, it would be a great day when they have a place to leave to but unless that place exists then I don't realistically see them going anywhere. The only way to deal with the problem for now is to, as mentioned above, spread the state's control over these camps, disarm them and maybe give them some very basic human rights.
