Read this story in English W460

Is there a committee to oversee the spending and building or is bassil given a blank check as originally planned?

This was expected because Aoun knows that Hezbollah still needs his political cover. They owe him their political survival after 2005.
Khyaalaat alsa7ra, the rest of the ministers barked high but they could not bite because they owe to Hezbollah their presence in the cabinet.
My fellow Lebanese have proven one more time how their corrupted greedy minds clouded their patriotic duties.

Point number one should be 1) The Shia MUST pay their share.

They speak of equality but not if they have to pay.

Bgdig what does saniora and the hariri's have to do with the electricity issue in Lebanon? Can u please explain this opinion of yours to me

Thumb ithinkthere14iam 21:06 ,2011 أيلول 07

This isn't a bad deal I suppose. I mean yes were paying too much for not the ideal amount of mw, but at least it seems the funds will be allocated appropriately. Still early tho, very likely something sleazy ends up occurring. Perhaps a committee loyal to the FPM or FPM friendly, wtv. It a wait and see thing

Finally!!! I don't think you should have any negative comments ,since this project would almost eliminate private electricity distributors(mafia), the funding itself is a long term capital expenditure which would improve the lebanese infrastructure ,1.2 or 3 billion $, this is not a 1 year project but a long term project, and i don't think numbers came out of nowhere, but instead of losing more than 10million $ per day from old crappy plants, this money would go into funding a new plants. Instead of arguing stupidly, for once you should be happy that such big projects are implemented in Lebanon, electricity + internet infrastructure ( still needs much improvements) but somehow better than before! Next Roads, then makabet el zbele, then funding schools for educating policemen lol, and stop destroying the nature !!! Walla 3eb 3alyekon if u keep arguing on stupid things ,aoun la2a nasrallah, la2a saad, Stop being narrow minded and work on improving Lebanon!

Lebanon economy is increasingly turned into a Syrian-Iranian-Soviet style where corrupt politicians are given authority over inefficient public institution with inflated funding to buy political loyalty, while the creative and innovative forces of the private sector are undermined in every respect. Civilized countries are moving towards transparent democracy, privatization of services and independent accounting. Lebanon is increasingly adopting Syria's and Iran's economic and political model. One thing certain, Aoun & Bassil duo represent the highest levels of political influence peddling recognized as the worst type of corruption by all civilized countries. The Basij and this duo are both using HizbIran rockets to take Lebanon hostage. The Basij to suck freedom and democracy out of Lebanese life, the duo to suck innovation and efficiency out of our economy and to engrave corruption in everything the government does.

Not M8 or M14 should invest a dollar of the taxpayers money before we are at peace with the surrounding countries. If the zionists want they can destroy the plants 3 days after they are build! so make peace the invest all the money we have!!!

Point #1: If we generate 700Megawatts then obviously part of the country will have to pay more for the electric bill, since the collectors get hit/stormed by sticks and stones in south beirut because the group that lives there is called: Army-People-Resistance so the latter is exempt from paying for life. This does not exist in any Country anywhere in the world.
Point#2: What's our deficit number? I would be ok if I sleep in the dark if this saves a Country budget.
Point#3: Generate more electricity= burn more fuel=spend more on fuel=return on investment from non-Lassa or M14 territory only.

What does Thst hve to do with anything....berri closed parliament for over a year, there were (at the time) more important issues that topped the agenda: ie things that are basics in state building, securing our sovereignty, and security) a continuos state of war with Israel in the south p, the 06 war, the Syrian presence wouldn't allow shit. Uk nothing bigdig, absolutely nothing. Ur a avid Hezbollah supporter are u not? Fneish was enegy minister in 05. Why didn't he bring up the issue back then?

Why settle for the boy, his father-in-law and Jumblatt stealing $100's of millions. In the US, you can build 700MW for between $600M and $800M all day long. This is with great GE or Hitachi gas turbines. Aside from them stealing the $100's of millions, they would probably make a deal for the fuel source to be Syrian natural gas. Why settle for those thieves and traitors stealing the hard earned money of our citizens (of course southern suburbs do nit pay either case)
