Read this story in English W460

Oh, now it does not violate the national pact and coexistence when Hezbollah does not name the "strongest" Sunni Leader with the largest Sunni parliamentary block.

hezbollah has already said they would not nominate hariri (understandably so after all that saad has done against them in the name of sauds). they also said however that they will not oppose him either, which basically means he will be PM, a bit like some parties did not vite for aoun and yet did not oppose his election.
not a big fan of hariri as everyone here knows, but if aoun and hariri can work together at the two highest official positions, and have a vast majority of the parliament with them, then hopefully some progress can finally be made in this country

Thumb .mowaten. 13:06 ,2016

The Saudis knows that they can not further their ambitions with Rifi, because Rifi is not popular outside of his Tripoli stronghold.
Also their dwindling influence can be seen and heard.

Hariri still have more influence than Rifi in the political arena, so the Saudis they made Hariri endorse Aoun as their last resort to gain some leverage on the Lebanese politics and institutions.

Thumb .mowaten. 13:40 ,2016

Indeed Mystic, and I don't think any one ever had any serious expectations from rifi, not even his makers in saudi. Maybe at some point they hoped to use him as a scarecrow, some sort of "scary alternative" that would be propped up if their other demands are not met, but even a that he turned out to be a joke, nobody who is anybody follows, respects or fears him.
Finally they had to accept what they had spent years swearing would never happen, aoun president, and try to salvage what they could by squeezing saad into the package deal. All in all it's a good compromise, let's wait and see what turns out.

Aoun smeared the so called resistance for more than 15 years and he was called a zionist jew stooge. Then after he became a hezballah tool, as al Ra2i called him when he was still bishop of jbeil, he is no longer a zionist jewish stooge. This time with President Aoun, hopefully that sort of absolute corruption will be a thing of the past... we still have Berri and jumblatt to convince. Hopefully that will be enough for it to pass as law!

True Basil took over in the last 5 years (with most of those years have been useless caretaker governments) and attempted to reduce the power shortage by hiring turkish floating power generators that have reduced the power shortage... did he also anticipate an extra 1.5 million refugees living in lebanon? Imagine what would be the daily power outage if didn't act? Action is what we need. W by cant we agree to drill the gas and oil in the med sea? Are we waiting for Israel to drain the whole basin first? Or are we waiting to agree politician payments? There is no border in an underwater gas basin! Israel has been pumping for the past 5 years while our "politicians" argue their commissions!

In 1996 electricity was almost at 24/7 until Israel blew up the bsalim power generating station then in 1999 the joumhour power station. It was in retaliation for a Hezbollah katiousha barrage into northern Israel. The katiousha barrage coincided with Michel aoun's tv interview so next morning newspapers had the Hezbollah/Israel bombings as headlines rather that what amounts said. This was not the last time this was done.

What do you do when you live with a bunch of people who have no problem in scorching and razing the country to the ground? You can never play their game, because that is dangerous. And if you don't you are branded as weak. I think Hariri played the best card possible considering the circumstances. Now begins the hard work. When was it ever easy for him or his father?
