Well why not; he has inherited 40 years of successful experience in the art of torture, deception and propaganda. The lack of cohesive opposition has helped the Baathist thugs in selling the fear of Islamist / Salafist revival in Syria. I agree with Assad. The opposition does not know the meaning of Democracy and Freedom. I bet that the minute they take power, they will try to hold on to it for ever under Primitive Sharia Law.
I will not care, nor have any pity on the Syrians as long as they do not recognize Lebanon as a separate and Independent country in their History books.
