If the US does not go to this war, with all the fanatics pouring in, this war is going to come to it. The US' aim should be to preserve what is left of Syria. That means trying to convince the people around Assad that their choice is between ruinous defeat and turfing out the Assad family as a prelude to talks with the rebels. A no-fly is needed to ground Assad’s air force and destroy some of his missiles. It should arm non-jihadist rebel groups—including with limited numbers of anti-aircraft missiles. There are no guarantees that this policy will work. But it will at least build links with the non-jihadist rebels whom America will need as allies in the chaos if Mr Assad stays.

They pose a threat to moderate Syrians, including Sunnis, and they could use lawless territory as a base for international terror. Oil-rich, Shia-majority Iraq can barely hold itself together; as Iraqi Sunnis are drawn into the fray, divisions there will only deepen. Here we go again, arming a group of fanatical thugs. Haven't the Americans learned their lesson by doing so? These scums they're trying to arm will use it against them once the Americans helped them achieve there goal.

I am not a war strategist, so I will refrain from analyzing what the world powers do or hoe they will get involved in Syria. I am not a political expert and hence will not indulge in analyzing the political fall-outs and the multitude of possible outcomes. But I am a Lebanese first and foremost and as such I urge all of you to take one united stand against any would be enemy of the State of Lebanon regardless of who the enemy is. If we do not close ranks we all will suffer the consequences.

All this means is that arming the opposition by the West (including Turkey) and the GCC will simply convert from covert to overt arming. Will it really make any difference except to raise the ante, cause more destruction and will be like a wildfire spreading to all surrounding countries.

Gather these bastards along with our politicians and lock them in a farm house along the Syrian border. Then mark the roof top with a big X then stand back and let the Israelis or the Syrian airforce or even the American drones do the rest !!!! Don't arm them just blow them.... That's it finish.
