Israel Vows to Stop Syria Arms Transfers to Hizbullah amid Report of Border Airstrike

Israel reiterated Wednesday it would act to prevent any transfer of advanced arms to "militants" during the conflict in Syria, as a newspaper reported an Israeli airstrike along the Syrian-Lebanese border.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, speaking at the parliamentary foreign and defense committee, said Israel was closely monitoring the situation in Syria and the regime's moves to dismantle its chemical arms.

"So far the regime is upholding its commitment," he said in remarks relayed by his office.

"We are following the issue, and continue to maintain our red lines on Syria -- not to allow the transfer of advanced Syrian weapons to hostile hands, especially Hizbullah," he said.

Yaalon said Israel would "not allow the passage of chemical weapons, which until now they haven't even tried to transfer."

His comments came as Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida, citing an official in Jerusalem, said Israeli warplanes had on Monday hit a convoy carrying advanced missiles along the Syria-Lebanon border bound for Hizbullah.

An Israeli defense official refused to comment on the report, which did not state whether the strike took place inside Lebanese or Syrian territory.

Israel has carried out several air strikes inside Syria this year that officials said were aimed at preventing shipments of advanced weapons to Hizbullah.

Time for hezbollah and co. to meet march 14 and the rest of the lebanese, time for hez and co. to stop acting like jerks, if we have to face an israely military intervention we have to be united or the concequwnces will be a disaster... Were would go all the lebanese refugies this time? Not to syria for sure even if the syrian still accept to take them in their home... Tripoli? Akar? Mont lebanon? Not many friends left..even FPM who are hez allies still consider them as "the other" (al gharib) it is sad but that the truth... Please wake up we only have each others...

god bless the catcher, weapons and politics don't mix well. especially not when people have guns and rockets pointing @ their heads.

Southern. The zionist enemy AND the Assadist enemy are our enemies.

i like your ①

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 17:02

meant "about to say the same", no idea how the above mishmash came out

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 17:07

lebanon_first: the lebanese state is at war with israel, not with syria.

last i checked it was the state, not internet commenters, who decide who our enemy is.

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 17:55

if you say so, MF (Mr Fool)

Thumb smarty 23 October 2013, 18:27

what state mowaten?

it's just you and us.... there's nobody else

Missing imagine_1979 23 October 2013, 18:29

By here u mean: accept all hez and co rules, suplying the same syria gov that hurted all lebanese (and yes all each at a specific moment; even syrian nationalists got assassinated in late 80 bc they were opposed to syeian regime)and supply it with military , let hez hav his own security system wich is above the lebanese law (where is the killer of the iranian embassy for exemple)... Saying ok israel killed hariri hawi assir.... I will skip details not to repeat all my post..
Bref say yes to all hez demands so they wont be classified with the zionists...
U know aoun was not long ago classified zionist by his new friends and not long ago (anoun mouhassabet sourya..) that's how u build a state????

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 18:37

you can't have it both ways, claiming there is a state when it suits you, and claiming there isnt when it doesnt.

Thumb lebanon_first 23 October 2013, 18:41

mowaten. We are effectively in a state of war with Syria whether you like it or not.
1-Assad sends even assigned a terrorist in chief to create strife in lebanon. Israel is considering building a wall with Lebanon.
2- Assad bombards our eastern borders every other day. Israel didnt bomb Lebanon for 7 yrs.
3- Assad sends weapons to jabal mohsen to kill people in tripoli. Israel did not arm factions in Lebanon for 20 yrs.
4- Assad sent us 1.5 million refugees to destabilize our country. israel sent us just half a million refugees (pals).

Stop hiding behind your finger. We are at war with Assad more than with Israel, even though officials find it sexy to bash israel and are afraid to bash syria.

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 19:00

so you replaced the state and re-wrote history. congrats.
but when did i vote for you to represent me? i can't recall

Thumb jabal10452 23 October 2013, 19:12

Southern: you say that "1/2 of lebanon can't be ignored by any side" and in my opinion, this is an absolutely correct statement.
In other words, The "filthy backwards Farsis" and the "medieval Saudi Takfiris" need to urgently put a lid on the name-calling and the tit-for-tat-grandstanding, and sit together and work it out.
One more year, and we Lebanese will be a minority in our own country, courtesy of our political "leadership".

Thumb lebanon_first 23 October 2013, 19:56

Mowaten...
I give you 5 rock arguments you retort that you did not elect me. What kind of an escape route is that answer of yours?
Once you told a commentator that he does not realize the suffering that Israel impinged on portion of the lebanese. I thought about it, and I thought you were right. Now I am asking you to think of the suffering that the Assadists impinged on another portion of the lebanese. If you are open think about it. Else just throw me a one liner.

We still speak of the Israeli enemy as if it is a threat that genuinely exists. Israel's threat is nothing more than a disguise used by the likes of Hezbollah to divert people's attention from the real issues that Lebanon is currently facing: (i) being held hostage to a militia; (ii) no rule of law or accountability.

The Israeli "enemy" argument has been used for years and conveniently by all Arab nations with dictators in power (including Hezbollah). Easiest way to divert people's attention is to make them look the other way.

Thumb geha 23 October 2013, 16:14

hizbushaitan is a terrorist Iranian organizations that has nothing to do with Lebanon.
why would any Lebanese find it useful to meet with these terrorists?
they should be eradicated from within the Lebanese society together with whoever supports them.
Lebanon is for Lebanese, not for Iranians!

Having a lebanese passport doesnot mean being patriotic, south lebanon army (jeich lahed) were lebanese and most of them from the lebanese army but not that patriotic u know.... Same work for hezbollah the last few years...

Thumb geha 23 October 2013, 17:19

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 October 2013, 18:59

"they should be eradicated from within the Lebanese society together with whoever supports them."

you call for eradicating over half the lebanese population and you call yourself a lebanese. "lowlife" doesnt even being to qualify you.

Missing peace 23 October 2013, 20:00

eradicate the hezbi weapons and you ll see if "half" the population still support them! LOL

in every dictatorship people support the dictator out of fear.... revise your history mowaten , the same applies to your iranian militia!

Thumb geha 23 October 2013, 16:29

or lack of it in the case of m8 followers :)
nothing will change the fact that hizbushaitan takes its orders from iran, is funded by iran, and executes all its dirty work in the wolrd.
if being patriotic is now being an extremist, then I agree, I am an extremist patriotic Lebanese.

Missing peace 23 October 2013, 16:50

LOL... hezbis receive help and orders as they pledged allegiance to iran which means to "obey"... they don't care about lebanon! stop saying they are patriots when they disobey the state every time it fits their interests.... LOL

Thumb geha 23 October 2013, 17:23

by GOD;
the m8 comments to facts about hizbushaitan denotes how desperate they are.
they know their end is inevitable some day soon.
instead of following this terrorist Iranian entity why don't you try to be Lebanese for a change?
you know nothing about patriotism, you support the Syrian regime which has been proven by our judiciary under your authority for the samaha case and the bombings in Tripoli (and so many others) and that against your compatriots.
is this the type of patriotism you talk about?
yes then you are a bunch of illeterates. go and look up the word Patriot in the dictionary, then come back and comment on what I am saying.

Thumb Dr.I.Mughniyeh_theheadless 23 October 2013, 17:04

I can understand Israel the Zionist enemy's distress think about it, they don't want weapons now in the hands of Assad's forever friendly Syrian Arab army the defender and protector of Israel's border since 1973 to fall in the hands of a bunch of Iranian mercenaries that can start a war with the drop of a turban.

What a surprise, my comment was taken off! Your all puppets in a twisted game that makes the people of both sides pay in blood, and makes the so called leaders more powerful, and it's clear you crave this direction. Look into the eyes of your children and ask yourself, do I want this life for them? If yes then carry , if no then step back and put yourself in the shoes of your foe and think, why are they the way they are, and your answer will always be the same, your leaders.
