The Trial Chamber of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon will hold a second Pre-Trial Conference on Monday, December 2, in preparation for the start of the trial in the Ayyash et al. Case, it announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The Pre-Trial Conference, which will be public, will begin at 3 p.m. Beirut time.

The Trial Chamber may decide to go into closed session if confidential matters need to be discussed, said the STL statement.

This Pre-Trial Conference is aimed at preparing for the start of trial on January 13, 2014. It follows a previous one held on October 29.

The STL is tackling the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri on February 14, 2005.

In 2011, four Hizbullah members, Mustafa Amin Badreddine, Salim Jamil Ayyash, Hussein Hassan Oneissi, and Assad Hassan Sabra, were indicted in the attack.

A fifth Hizbullah suspect, Hassan Habib Merhi, was indicted in 2013.

The STL had urged the Lebanese authorities to apprehend the suspects, but they have failed.

The suspects will likely be tried in absentia.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has rejected the STL, describing it as an American-Israeli product bent on destroying the party.

He has vowed never to cooperate with the tribunal, saying that the suspects will never be found.

Hassan Nasrallah : "Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has rejected the STL, describing it as an American-Israeli product bent on destroying the party."

This is the typical response of a person found guilty of crimes !

He even started defending Hezbollah before any accusation ...

Hassan, you're going to be hanged for high treason and this will be Lebanon's real independence day !

The only ones wasting time and resources are your Hezbollah terrorist that are being hidden by Hassan Nasrallah.

The sooner you bring them in for questionning, the less ressources are wasted.

They will be put on trial whether you like it or not. You have a chance to defend yourselves and refuse to take it. So all lost money and time is on you. Avoiding this will not make you look innocent.

May they all be caught and given the punishment they deserve.

Really @Southern ?

Can you name each judge and their reasons for leaving ?

Can you actually state that Lebanese, Syrian or Iranian tribunals are less fake ?

Are you even capable of judging what's fake and what's not ? Hezbollah is certainly not in a position to talk about "fake". They thrive on "fakeness" :

- They are a fake resistance
- They hide behind a fake cause
- They hide behind a fake god of death, weapons and war carrying a kalashnikov non the less.
- They smuggle fake products into Lebanon
- They deal in fake drugs
- They fake their reasons for fighting in Syria
- They use fake IDs
- They invent fake reasons to justify their crimes

You're calling the STL Fake ? Everything about Hezbollah is fake. I'm willing to bet you Hassan Nasrallah's beard is fake too !

because the illiterate sectarian said so. Their arrogance knows no limits. He and his likes have no idea what an International Tribunal means. He does not even know what the basics of a village court are let alone the complex legal proceedings of the STL. He speaks only because the confirmed killers are Shia. Had the culprits been Sunni, Christian or otherwise, he would be hailing the efforts of the STL. If Saddam Hussain was Shia, people like him would be referring to Saddam as a hero. Filth ... history has never seen.......
