France said Friday that the six powers negotiating with Iran are "united" in seeking a long-term deal on its nuclear program.

The P5+1 group of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany are "united on one goal: obtaining a credible, complete and sustainable agreement which provides all the necessary guarantees that Iran will not seek to acquire nuclear weapons," French foreign ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said.

P5+1 top diplomats including U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry are gathering this weekend in Vienna as negotiations with Iran enter the final straight.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Tuesday hinted at differences between Russia and Western countries involved in the talks.

He did not say exactly what differences had emerged, saying only that "in the past days representatives in the negotiations have put forward a certain number of different approaches between part of the 5+1 and our Russian partners".
