Health Minister Wael Abou Faour referred on Monday to the general prosecution the case of seven-year-old Michael Dany Kassouha, who was attacked and killed by a dog.

According to the state-run National News Agency, the dog was undergoing tough training for wrestling other dogs, which is a major violation of animal rights.

These dogs are usually tormented and brutally treated.

Abou Faour expressed hope that an investigation would be launched and the necessary measures would be taken to halt such violations.

Earlier this month, the dog mauled the head of the Kassouha as he was playing at his father's farm.

The father was cleaning the cage of one of the dogs that they train at the farm when the animal went off his leash and attacked the boy.

Michael was instantly killed.
