CrowdFunding Campaign MOTHER TONGUE Contemporary Dance Performance
Pierre Geagea is a deaf-born contemporary expressionist dancer.
At a young age, Pierre Geagea finds in sign language and dance two essential modes of expression. Sign language is his bridge between the spoken word and the gesture. Later, he slowly discovers sound and begins to enter rhythm and music into dialogue with words and signs. Pierre’s unique relation to these elements is his mother tongue.
"Mother Tongue" is his first personal creation : a solo dance performance that fuses the corporeality and unpredictable rhythmicity of contemporary dance with the gracefulness and expressive fluidity of signs language, a press release said.
The brain-child of Lebanese dancer/choreographer Pierre Geagea, "Mother tongue" interweaves pulsating dance moves with gestural speech, experimental soundscapes, onstage acrobatics, and narrative video projections, to sketch a portrait of a deaf dancer and his entirely unique and inspiring relationship with sound and rhythm, accompanied by the music of Sharif Sehnaoui and Toni Elieh.
The performance has been done at Institut Français and encountered a huge success. Pierre would like to present a re-interpretation of it, at "Théâtre Gemmayze", Sacre Coeur College, Gouraud Street, Beirut, the press release added.
Funds will be invested toward the rental of a studio for rehearsals, rental of the theater space, paying the sound, light, and technical team, etc.
The amount requested is the minimum amount needed to realize the project. Without this help, it will be impossible to afford it.
In order to that, We started a crowdfunding campaign on Zoomaal: http://www.zoomaal.com/projects/mothertongue/3638?ref=18889266
For people who are not able or don't want to fund, there is a second way to help make this project happen: by voting for it (Mother tongue contemporary dance performance) on the “Live love Beirut” NGO website (click on the heart next of the project). The project which will have the most votes will be funded): http://www.livelovebracelet.com/project/77
