Report: Aoun to Agree to Franjieh's Presidential Bid if He Garners Enough Votes

Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun noted that Marada Movement chief MP Suleiman Franjieh has the needed characteristics to become president, adding that he is willing to back his bid for the presidency, reported As Safir newspaper on Tuesday.

His visitors told the daily that the lawmaker is “willing to give his blessing to Franjieh's candidacy if he garners the necessary votes at parliament.”

“Congratulations to him if he pulls it off and some sides are delusional in believing that I would sabotage his bid,” he was quoted as saying.

Aoun is a presidential candidate along with his rival head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea.

Franjieh has in recent days emerged as a potential presidential candidate amid reports that he had held talks last week with Mustaqbal Movement leader MP Saad Hariri.

The Marada chief's visitors quoted him as saying: “I will not confirm or deny whether I had met Hariri in Paris.”

“There can be no presidential election without the approval of Saudi Arabia and its blessing to the candidates,” he remarked according to al-Akhbar newspaper Tuesday.

Furthermore, he said: “The positive atmosphere at the dialogue talks on the presidency persuades me to continue on supporting the candidacy of Aoun.”

“As long as he is a candidate, then I cannot run for presidency,” he declared according to his visitors.

“Should we reach a point where we are forced to chose an alternative, then I will chose myself,” explained Franjieh.

“I cannot compare my popularity to that of Aoun's even if I enjoy the support of the Shiite community,” he added.

Lebanon has been without a president since May 2014 when the term of Michel Suleiman ended without the election of a successor.

Ongoing disputes between the rival March 8 and 14 camps over a compromise candidate have thwarted the polls.

Lebanon and the Lebanese should be ashamed and disgusted. The Lebanese Christian community is rich with young and innovative men and women who have excelled in almost every field whether it is politics, economy, art, etc. To elect someone like franjieh to be president is a very sad moment in Lebanon's history.

This is what Syria hopes for : that the most corrupt or the least educated gets at the Top.

Aoun and his corrupt party insisted all along the president should be strong within his own community and represent the Christians. How much does Franjieh represent the Christians... He hardly represents Zgherta!

What happened to Aoun's demands the President be elected by the people? What happened to the surveys he demanded to show who has the majority within the Christians?

Report: Aoun to Agree to Franjieh's Presidential Bid if He Garners Enough Votes.......
The constitution says you should agree to any candidate that gsarners enough votes (not only those in your camp).

Mr. Franjieah, Mr. Jumblatt, General Aoun, and Mr. Netanyahu are the only 4 world leaders working for Lebanon's interests at the moment..... the rest pfffft.

Will this little country ever get rid of this political class? The educated youth of Lebanon must rise and demand what is rightfully theirs. This political class and these political parties are suffocating them. New parties need to emerge. Was education one of the characteristics of a president? where did Franjieh get his education? What is his specialty.

The educated youth of Lebanon are not armed (unlike the thugs who follow current leaders) and they do not believe in killing and violence (unlike the armed thugs of our current leaders).

BOHICA I believe is the phrase for the prospects of a Slieman Frangieh Presidency.

BOHICA?? What does it mean?? It means, Bend Over, Here It Comes Again.

Caporal is liar + corrupt + mentally ill + traitor.

Frangieh is only a traitor.

The problem is with M14 : they are lost and do not know what to do. They should read our comments.

Missing humble 24 November 2015, 16:38

Another fact: if Frangieh is president, Caporal will explode. Imbassil will want to lead the party....then no one will want to follow the idiot,....and PFFFT CPL ....gone with the wind..!!!

Aoun or Cloun,
Frangieh educated ? Yes, more than his grandfather. Most likely he will learn how to spell his name CORRECTLY by the time he is elected.
Anyhow let the election occur and that will be good enough to award Aoun with "first step to democracy"
