U.S. Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has revealed part of his foreign policy advisory team, which includes a Lebanese man.

He made the announcement on Monday during a wide-ranging meeting with The Washington Post’s editorial board although he has largely avoided policy details during his campaign.

"Walid Phares, who you probably know. Ph.D., adviser to the House of Representatives. He’s a counter-terrorism expert," Trump stated

The other members of the team are retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, Carter Page, George Papadopoulos and retired Gen. Joseph Schmitz.

Phares, a Maronite, has an academic background, teaching at the National Defense University and Daniel Morgan Academy in Washington, and has advised members of Congress as well as appeared as a television analyst on terrorism and the Middle East.

Phares attracted attention in 2012 when as an adviser to Mitt Romney’s presidential bid he was linked to the Lebanese Forces.

The reports said that he was also a close adviser to LF chief Samir Geagea.

He did not immediately respond to attempts by The Post to contact him.

Walid Phares is a good man that is a little overly bias against hezbollah and pro israel but is also very pro Lebanon! A little bit of a contradiction but so too is the man he advisers!

And being pro-Iran would mean being pro-Lebanon without contradiction ?

Lebanese patriots are keen on Lebanon interests. These lies with peace and prosperity with its neighbors, including Israel. If you think war with Israel has brought good things to Lebanon so far, you are free to think so, but don't say that people who disagree with you are in a contradiction !
