2 Injured, Several Held as Army Cracks Down in Northern Bekaa

A Lebanese man from the Zoaiter family and a Syrian from the al-Ahmed family were wounded on Monday as the army raided the houses of a number of fugitives in the northern Bekaa town of Kneisseh, state-run National News Agency reported.

Earlier in the day, the army made several arrests in the northern Bekaa town of Brital and the Baalbek neighborhood of al-Sharawneh.

“An army force raided the places of a number of fugitives in the Brital region today, arresting the fugitives Ali Qassem Mazloum, Mosbah Abed Hassan Ismail and Saleh Ali Mazloum,” an army statement said.

Troops seized “a number of light-caliber bullets, various military equipment, a walkie-talkie, a quantity of narcotics and two drug manufacturing machines,” the statement added.

Earlier in the day, an army unit raided Baalbek's al-Sharawneh neighborhood where it arrested 23-year-old M. S. who is wanted on multiple arrest warrants and F. A. J., 21, NNA said.
