Bassil to Salameh and ‘His Supporters’: Stop the Explosion!
Head of the Free Patriotic Movement Jebran Bassil asked the central bank governor Riad Salameh and all those who are backing up his decision to end fuel subsidies to “stop the (social) explosion!”
He called for a gradual lifting of the subsidies “until the ration card is distributed.”
Bassil blamed Salameh and his political supporters for the “hijacked fuel tankers, inoperational oxygen machines and water stations, and for medicine shortages.”
He added that President Michel Aoun and caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab have rejected the decision to lift subsidies and that the caretaker government “must prove to be the executive authority.”
The new government must be formed quickly, and the coup against it and against the president “must fail,” Bassil went on saying.
“You are assassinating an entire people, but our people shall not die,” Bassil decried.

The ration card if implemented properly, will give the poorest individuals $17 per month equivalent to the price of 20 liters of gasoline. Bassil thinks it will avoid the social explosion that he and the ruling political class are responsible for. Bassil is just being Bassil; a demagogue!

سلامة يفجر مفاجأة من العيار الثقيل عن رفع الدعم.. هذا ما قاله
أكد حاكم مصرف لبنان رياض سلامة في حديث لاذعة لبنان الحر يذاع غداً أن جميع المسؤولين في لبنان كانوا يعلمون بقرار رفع الدعم، بدءًا من رئاسة الجمهورية مرورا بالحكومة وليس انتهاءً بمجلس الدفاع الأعلى.

فوجئ رئيس حكومة تصريف الاعمال خلال الاجتماع الوزاري بموافقة معظم الوزراء على قرار رفع الدعم عن المحروقات لا سيما من وزيري الطاقة والاقتصاد وانتهى الاجتماع بالتوافق على اصدار بيان لحفظ ماء الوجه واظهار موقف اعتراضي شكلي.
