Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called on Tuesday for a parliament session, to discuss President Michel Aoun’s letter on the subsidization crisis.

The session will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, at the UNESCO Palace.

Berri had received on Tuesday morning a letter from the President concerning “the negative repercussions” of the lifting of subsidies.

“Pharmacies, hospitals, water stations, internet providers, and power plants are all expected to stop operating,” Aoun warned, urging to find a way to secure electricity and “people's basic life rights.”

Aoun asked Parliament “to take the appropriate position, action, or decision,” regarding the subsidization crisis after a series of unfruitful meetings with the concerned ministers and with Salameh.

The president had previously asked for the Council of Ministers to convene but caretaker prime minister Hassan Diab had refused.

This guy has transferred all his dirty money abroad and is now asking for people's monies at the banks to be used as subsidies. Does this guy has any real brain? When are we going to have presidents who have some knowledge in economics and how countries are run, and not as this guy is, a useless leader?
