Report: Miqati May Submit Line-Up Today as Hizbullah Presses Parties

Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati may submit a draft cabinet line-up to President Michel Aoun in the coming hours, sources close to him said in remarks published Wednesday.

“That might be possible this afternoon or tomorrow,” the sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper.

The sources added that Miqati did not call off a meeting with Aoun on Tuesday, noting that no meeting had been scheduled in the first place.

“In the latest contacts, it was agreed to hold the meeting once the PM-designate prepares a complete line-up, which would make the meeting productive and meaningful,” the sources said.

And as unnamed sources said that “the dispute is still ongoing over the two Christian ministers and the blocking one-third reservations,” other sources said that “Hizbullah is exerting strong pressures on the concerned parties in order to form the government.”

“The chances of the government being formed are fifty-fifty,” the sources added.

“Optimistic” sources meanwhile told the newspaper that “yesterday’s meeting was postponed because the two men have a serious format that they are working on.”

It is laughable indeed. Forming the Lebanese government sounds more complex than all the world's problems combined. The government can be formed in 10 minutes as there are thousands of qualified Lebanese all over the world. The issue is not qualifications but rather names. Aoun/Bassil want ministers they can control or belong to the FPM. End of Story!
