Aoun Urges Exposing Those Monopolizing Medicine, Baby Milk and Fuel

W460

President Michel Aoun on Tuesday called on military, security and judicial agencies to “deal transparently with citizens as to the outcome of the raids on the warehouses of medicine, foodstuffs and gas stations.”

“In order to restore their confidence in the state and all its agencies and institutions, the Lebanese have the right to know the real culprits behind the monopoly of medicine, baby milk and medical supplies… They also have the right to know those who hoarded fuel and whether they have been arrested,” Aoun added.

Urging security agencies to “inform citizens of the fate of the confiscated material,” the President promised that he “will not hesitate to put all facts at the disposal of the public opinion so that it does not fall prey to rumors and fake news, and so that they know the truth of those insisting on their unethical and inhumane practices.”

Aoun also pledged that the fight against corruption “will not stop no matter how much pressures and blackmail intensify,” noting that the judiciary has an “essential and necessary” responsibility as to pursuing “monopolists, corrupts and violators” so that they “get the punishment that they deserve.”

Mr. President.
Your fight and your cause are very deserving and glorious. But didnt you notice that the collateral damage is too high? You have put on hold the life of a whole generation of Lebanese by attacking armed militia in 89, hence stopping partition of Lebanon in 1989 only to welcome Hezbollah's weapons in 2005!

Then you started your battle against "corruption".
Corruption? Even if you remove Beŕri the chief corrupt, which you cant, another Berri will come. Is it worth it to keep your fight and to make us, the Lebanese, pay the cost of your constant blocking everything?

What fight and what cause?:) Your glorious president and his party have had the ministry of power for the last 11 years and wasted more than $45 billion in corruption and commissions not to mention total incompetence. Berri had nothing to do with the power ministry for the last 11 years! Having said that, I am not defending the biggest thief of all....

During the one sided Miqati government back in 2011-2012, Gebran Bassil insisted on getting more than $1.2 billion to fix the electricity and build permanent power plants. He insisted the funds be at his disposal and not subject to audit by the state's Public Audit Bureau. He later promised the Lebanese in a televised press conference that electricity would be available 24/7. These are facts that cannot be disputed regardless of anyone's political affiliation. The ministry of finance or Berri had nothing to do with Bassil's scam.

Additionally, The minister of Finance during Miqati's 2011 government was Mohamad Al Safadi and not a Berri appointee.

Demagoguery at its best! He wrote a book about Mustaqbal's alleged corruption and called it "The impossible vindication". Then he aligned with them in the elections and made a deal with them to make him president.

Bari Daher, his appointee at the customs is the definition of corruption. Bassil is another kingpin and has been sanctioned by the USA for his corruption.

But, Aoun is lecturing us how he is fighting corruption:)
