Berri slams 'corruption system' but warns of campaigns 'targeting resistance'

Parliament Speaker and Amal Movement leader Nabih Berri on Tuesday said he is in favor of “toppling the system of corruption” but warned that some are “exploiting the corruption issue” in order to “target the resistance” and the “values” of Hizbullah and the Amal Movement.

“In the name of the (Shiite) Duo, I say let the judiciary tackle corruption… We will not provide a cover for anyone,” Berri told a Hizbullah-Amal electoral rally via video link.

“They are trying to target our values through the electoral juncture,” Berri warned.

Noting that the current period requires a “calm political rhetoric,” the Speaker lamented that “some have resorted to vile sectarian incitement against the Amal Movement and its achievements and alliances in a suspicious manner.”

“The period after October 17 and the port explosion witnessed abhorrent sectarian incitement against the Amal Movement and the ‘National Duo,’” he added.

And stressing that “the resistance still represents an urgent national necessity,” Berri reiterated that “Muslim-Christian coexistence is a fortune that must be adhered to.”

No one is fooled! HizbIran is not a resistance but a foreign occupying force that has made South Lebanon a launchpad for Iranian rockets to serve Iranian regional hegemony and nuclear ambitions at the expense of Lebanon and the Shia community. Berri instead of siding with the Green Revolution that was asking for Iranian the same democracy and freedom Lebanese Shia had, he sided with the Basij making Lebanese Shia despised in the whole region, isolated, indoctrinated and strangers to their own history, culture and traditions. No where has this been more evident than during last week elections where we witnessed two distinct Lebanon. A Lebanon of Basij, oppression, radicalism and worship of Iranian arms; and a Lebanon of civility, democracy and freedom.

Lebanese Shia at the polling booth should ask two questions:
1. If Imam Moussa Saddr was among us in 2010, is there any doubt he would have been a prime supporter of the Green Revolution in Iran that was brutally suppressed by the basij (Hizbollah patrons)?
2. Isn't Berri the biggest phony in modern times as his actions are the opposite of Imam Saddr? Saddr believed in building up communities, honesty, and connecting with others to build a just and dignified nation; whereas Berri has destroyed communities, promoted corruption, and used Hizb thugs to intimate others?
-- Very simple choice!
