'Not Hezbollah's candidate': Franjieh wants to be 'consensual' president

Marada leader chief Suleiman Franjieh met Thursday with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkerki.

"I'm not Hezbollah's candidate, I'm seeking to be a consensual candidate," Franjieh said.

He added that he would accept to be elected with 65 votes, and that he would announce his candidacy once he senses that he can secure enough votes.

"I don't want to be a confrontational president," Franjieh said, asking if MP and presidential candidate Michel Mouawwad is consensual.

Franjieh said he is not against Army chief Gen. Joseph Aoun but is wondering what is his political project.

He went on to say that Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil has his reasons for rejecting him, "as matters are beyond his capacity."

LOL. What are his qualifications beside being friend of Assad, Hizbollah's new favorite Useful Idiot (after other FPM idiots no longer useful), and prominent member of the political mafia? Wasn't he running interior ministry when Hariri was assassinated? Whereas we need a fresh blood with clear mandate like Carlos Ghosn to come, clean house, and establish a new management team with modern rules and processes like in Dubai; Frangieh is as looking backward and steep in corruption and old guards as we get. Shame on Frangieh for being a Trojan horse that will lead to lebanon suicide and isolation. Wake up people!

Franjieh is nothing less than confrontational as he has widely proven his admiration for Assad's criminal regime in Syria and always boasted of his unwavering support of Hizbullah's hegemony. His election would be a total disaster for Lebanon because it will surely not ensure a return to the Arab fold and to international legitimacy towards European democracies and the US, among others.

Only in a banana republic would someone only announce his candidacy if he is guaranteed to win. That's exactly what he's saying. Does any lebanese know what his campaign is? No. he probably doesn't;t except that he wants to be president.

If you have to start by saying you aren't hizb's candidate, then you are. He hasn't done anything to distance himself from that, so again, useless words.
