Al-Rahi accuses lawmakers of 'high treason'

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Sunday accused the country’s lawmakers of “high treason” for failing to elect a new president.

“Through blind obedience to their leaders, the MPs of the nation are refraining from electing a president, favoring instead the growing collapse of the constitutional and public institutions, injustice against the people and forcing the best of our skilled labor to experience the bitterness of emigration,” al-Rahi said in his Sunday Mass sermon.

“Isn’t this high treason? Isn’t it rather a great crime against the Lebanese people and state?” al-Rahi added.

“They are speaking of the need for dialogue in order to reach a consensual candidate, while some are clinging to their candidate and want to impose him on others and other parties are holding onto the veto right against the nomination of many eligible candidates,” the patriarch lamented.

Accordingly, al-Rahi said dialogue needs to be based on “the situation of Lebanon and the Lebanese.”

“The best and most appropriate candidate for this situation must be sought,” the patriarch added, calling for rising above “selfishness” and “partisan interests.”

Then he receives and welcomes the FPM/Bassil who have been casting a blank vote in parliament!

Oh sure, because accusing elected officials of high treason is definitely the best way to encourage them to work together towards a solution. And of course, it's not like they were invited to the Patriarch's Sunday Homily or anything, so they won't take his accusations personally. And clearly, the best way to promote dialogue and cooperation is to lecture them about rising above their petty interests.
Well played, Your half Holiness.

Sounds like the deadlock between the Republicans and Democrats in the US. Blind obedience to party without consideration for the country and constituents.

Has anybody else watched tonight the 3 episode documentary "Hezbollah, l'enquête interdite" on France 5?

I feel disgusted that France and the US sold us out to Iran back in 2015 when they signed juicy deals with them.

I feel disgusted that they're using this documentary and every Lebanese as propaganda to get back as them because the peace deal is dead.

We know Hezbollah is behind everything bad that has happened to us since Feb 14 2005 , look how they betrayed us with this sham of a TSL trial when they only summoned entry-level terrorists.

Now, I hope you all see why I support a multipolar world with the BRICS and back Russia in Ukraine, because the Western "values" are disregarded when someone waves dollar bank notes at them.
