France reaffirms commitment to army support conference

MENA adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron, Anne-Claire Legendre, has reaffirmed during her visit to Lebanon France's commitment to hold a conference in support of the Lebanese army in Riyadh.

Legendre said France and Saudi Arabia are discussing Lebanon's progress in implementing the government's plan to disarm Hezbollah.

Paris has promised to organize two conferences for supporting Lebanon.

One of the conferences is to drum up financial aid for the reconstruction of war-hit regions in Lebanon. The second will be to support the Lebanese Army which was tasked with implementing the plan to disarm Hezbollah, but lacks funds and equipment.

The army has also suffered from the repercussions of the country's economic meltdown six years ago.
