Change and Reform to Snap Back at Saniora over Spending ‘Scandal’
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Change and Reform bloc of MP Michel Aoun is preparing a detailed response to al-Mustaqbal bloc leader Fouad Saniora who stressed on Friday that the $11 billion extra-budgetary spending made between 2006 and 2009 had all the required documents and accounting of public finances.
Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan told As Safir daily on Saturday that a press conference held by Saniora and other March 14 MPs a day earlier was “a dangerous scandal at the constitutional and parliamentary levels that cannot be covered by the media play organized by Saniora.”
The lawmaker reiterated his accusation that Saniora “is asking for a financial clearance through the media at a time when he has been asked in the past 5 years to make a clearance through an accurate accounting.”
The March 8 and 14 forces are at loggerheads over extra-budgetary spending made since 2006. The parliamentary majority is pushing for the adoption of a $5.9 billion bill on spending made by Premier Najib Miqati’s cabinet in 2011 while March 14 is calling for a comprehensive solution to all the spending made since 2006 given that Lebanon hasn’t had any state budget since 2005.
The sharp differences have threatened the fate of a parliamentary session scheduled to be held on Monday. Saniora and several other March 14 MPs said they will boycott the session if an urgent draft-law proposed by al-Mustaqbal lawmakers to legalize extra-budgetary spending since 2006 isn’t discussed alongside the cabinet’s $5.9 billion bill.
But sources close to the March 8 forces said the opposition’s invitation to boycott the session means it is seeking to obstruct the work of the parliament.

If the country is like this today, it is the fault of both camp in my opinion.
It is easy to accuse the other when each leader of each party has more than a Billion Dollar in assets. All is made to loose time so the citizen never understand. Even if Hariri was leading the governement since the 90, I think everything was supervised by Syria as well during that period. So all were agreeing on what was happening and all where making lots of money as well.
It is pitty that we Lebanese are put all against each other for covering others knowing that the Lebanese always live to save and think about himself before anyone else. it is time to turn a new page and show to those who are ruining the country that we are fed up.

It is not a matter of scandal. Both side are a shame. In my opinion it is not only the fault of Hariri because since the 90, they were all happy to put lots of money in their pockets and moreover, Syria was queen in Lebanon so all the decisions has been agreed on by Syria. Don't forget that our ministers were choosen by Syria and our presidents as well. So why blaming Hariri for all the debt on Lebanon.
Every leader of Each party has more than a Billion dollars assets and they don't really care about us believe me. We are fighting each other to defend them and cover them. When they make billions on your back you will never have a penny in return, but if you want to have any help from them, see how much it will cost you...
We should stop thinking about war and start building our country in spite of following two numbers 8 and 14, I think we deserve much more than this.

The problem in Lebanon, are the leaders. None of them have a spotless record. You can accuse them of everything except patriotism. Countries are made by people, not governments. People are suppose to shape the government, not vice versa.

I know the feeling slash. Frustrating. They are self-destruct society. No need for enemies.

"..we are firing Photoshop on all cylinders as we speak" a high ranking Change and Reform blockhead said on condition of anonymity and then he winked..
Did anyone notice, that when ex PM Siniora speaks it’s all about poetry, avoiding clashes and thinking about the Future… While when MP Kanaan speaks it’s all about Law, figures and numbers? BTW, thumbs up for Kataeb party who unlike Mr.Harb and LF refused to take part in Sinioras masquerade this Thursday. Excellent political move all what LF and Harb lost in terms of popularity went directly in Kataebs ranks.
