Report: Aoun to present post-withdrawal action plan to Trump

President Joseph Aoun expects to hear from U.S. President Donald Trump a "commitment to guarantee a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon," U.S. diplomatic sources in Beirut have said, according to al-Akhbar newspaper.

In return, the sources said that the U.S. president will be "clear in emphasizing that the price for this is the Lebanese government's commitment to ending Hezbollah's military presence on all Lebanese territory," noting that he will ask Aoun "to cooperate with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa to address the Hezbollah issue, with the United States being an active partner with both sides in this process."

A Lebanese official source meanwhile told Al-Arabiya that Aoun will ask Trump to “set timetables for a complete Israeli withdrawal,” adding that the president will present to Trump an action plan that includes organizing conferences to support the economy.

“The action plan Aoun will present to Trump includes proposals to restrict weapons and strengthen the army,” the sources added.
