Hizbullah, Jamaa Islamiya Stress Need to Maintain Civil Peace

Hizbullah and al-Jamaa al-Islamiya held talks on Wednesday on the need to maintain cooperation to ensure unity on the Islamic scene in Lebanon.
They stressed in a statement “the need to exert all efforts to preserve civil and national peace.”
The gatherers at the meeting included the head of Hizbullah’s politburo Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed and the head of al-Jamaa al-Islamiya’s politburo Azzam al-Ayyoubi.
The meeting also tackled Arab and Islamic affairs and the threats facing the region as embodied in “American attempts to restore its hegemony in the area, which need to be confronted.”
The two sides last met in August 2011, during which they stressed “the resistance’s role in fortifying the future of the nation and in protecting our nations from offensive threats.”
