Phalange Party Urges Govt., Dialogue Committee to Hold Emergency Meeting on Disarmament

The Phalange Party on Monday called on the government and the national dialogue committee to hold an extraordinary meeting “that would take a beneficial resolution, or a ‘Statement Number One’, on disarming all groups without exception.”
The party also called for “defining a clear timeframe and mechanism” for the sought disarmament, in a statement issued after the weekly meeting of its political bureau.
The conferees warned of the “deadly repercussions that have started to emerge due to the government’s abandonment of its responsibilities and resignation from its main missions in security, economy and finance.”
They also slammed “the support offered to the culture of violence and assassinations which are posing a threat to the leaders of the March 14 coalition, which puts the government in the cage of accusation, at least for its negligence.”
And as the political bureau warned authorities against “dealing lightly with the assassination attempt against MP Boutros Harb,” it stressed that “it will not let authorities rest before revealing the truth in the assassinations of minister Pierre Gemayel and MP Antoine Ghanem.”
The party also warned of possible full-blown security chaos in the country, saying it would represent “an additional evidence on the government’s impotence.”

Hey Phil, I don't disagree with you and yes Hizballah has bocome a disgcrace but you like many other seem to point out that they are the only ones who have weapons. What about the other groups should we act like they are innocent also? Also' how can you muster up an argument against the Shia when all other sects are armed to the teeth. For shame how Liban has fallen! It would be simple to solve Libans problems once you eject all the foreign influence. The Lebanese people should make all leader of that country go to a warehouse without air conditioning, have only limited electricity and substandard food and a mat to sleep on. The should give them one month sentence to come up with a peace and disarming plan. the should not be allowed to come and go nor any visitors. If they fail then burn the warehouse with them in it and elect new leaders!

Phil....first off the only thumbs down you get is from BSThrower aka Mowaten along with many aliases he creates. So simply brush him of like you do with a annoying manure fly. Second HA will go down and it's not 'if' but rather 'when'. Yes it won't be pretty. They will fight like cowards and hide in schools/hospitals/civilian areas and with our luck...use idiot followers like FT as human shields and so forth. BUT like a Phoenix Lebanon will come back and next time around, a country without HA filth!

Phil. you are wrong. Things might appear very bad right now, but they are not. give some time to syria's criminal regime to fall, or syria to divide or whatever, then things will unravel very quickly.
Our problem today is Syria's criminal regime and its proxies. ssnp, jibril, hezb el bath. These thugs represent NOBODY lebanese. They are just a syrian implant to screw and control lebanon.
Hezbollah represents the chiites, our brothers. Unfortunately they (the chiites) feel they need weapons to control the rest of the lebanese. This need is propably an overreaction of the chiite community who felt left out during years- for right or for wrong.
Look how the sunnite community turned around in the 90s and decided to beleive in the state lebanon like the christians, the chiites will too, and HA will become a political party.

Before Taef, the president had the greatest prerogatives in the country. And hence the maronites ruled the country basically. Sunnites resented that. And they prefered to align themselves with fellow sunni palestinians killing fellow christian lebanese. That is a historical fact. When Taef accord came, the sunni umma talk diminished and lebanese sunnites started feeling more than they care to be part of a lebanon with christians and chiites, because of the new prerogatives they gained with the prime minister. That is normal. no need to be aggressive. Maronites didnt "teach" sunnites anything. Sunnites just decided to put multicolored Lebanon before the monochrome sunni umma. And that is a great thing.

On March 14 hundreds of thousands of christians demonstrated for a great sunni Lebanese leader. Rafic Hariri. Would sunnis ever demonstrate for a great christian Lebanese leader? If they would, then they beleive in lebanon and have nothing to learn from maronites.

Part 1: I fail to follow the dangerous logic of comparing the weapons of the terror group called the “Party of God” with the weapons of all the other thugs in Lebanon COMBINED. Can any other gang with weapons start a war with Israel? Launch Rockets into Israel? Install and operate and illegal telecom network right under the nose of the government? Confiscate an entire airport and use it to serve its own illegitimate purposes? Stage a sit-in with portable toilets, tents, heating and cooling which disables the functioning of a government they oppose? Subvert the political will of the people at gunpoint? Force a political majority to go to a foreign country to seek permission to form a government? Receive millions of dollars from a nation building a nuclear weapon for the sole purpose of annihilating ISRAEL?

Part 2: This marginalizing the weapons of this terror organization by comparing it the weapons of disorganized splinter factions with little weight and consequence is a dangerous and bold attempt to change the narrative and brainwashing the people. The Party of God is the single most destructive terror force unleashed on Lebanon since its birth and it is time it is dealt with accordingly. The Lebanese Army can take on thugs but it cannot take on Satan. We, the free people of Lebanon, have to politically and legally remove this cancer by any means possible. If I knew how, I would have already done it already.
