Expat Lebanese sculptor and painter Nicole Mouracade has unveiled a first public art installation for the Trianon-MASP in Sao Paulo, news reports said Monday.

Mouracade has been selected by the “City of the Future” and 2014 World Cup host São Paulo, to adorn the Trianon-MASP metro station serving the Museu de Arte de São Paulo which contains since 1947 the most comprehensive art collection in the Southern Hemisphere.

The 5000-piece artwork was achieved in only two months, made up of concrete miniature oil barrels in various stages of decay. It will be part of the 30th Bienal de Sao Paulo in September 2012.

The Bienal has featured in its history Picasso, Giacometti and Magritte, among many illustrious artists.

Mouracade is an artist originally from Lebanon with an international career that has spanned over France, Italy, the United States and Brazil, with a nod in 2000 from Paris’s Hôtel Drouot.

Her work has come to be identified with modern Brazil, where Mouracade is based, and is part of public collections displayed by national entities such as the São Paulo International Airport, Telefonica Brasil, the Banco Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, among others.
