Prime Minister Najib Miqati on Tuesday visited Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat at the al-Mukhtara Palace.

The one-hour meeting tackled the latest developments in the country, state-run National News Agency reported.

The visit comes after Miqati stressed Saturday that he will not resign and lashed out at the March 14 camp that held him responsible for the “blood” of slain Intelligence Bureau head Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan.

It also comes hours before Wednesday's cabinet session, the first since Hasan's assassination.

On Thursday, Jumblat said he had rejected a request from ex-PM Saad Hariri to withdraw his ministers from government, a claim denied by Hariri who accused Jumblat of “lying.”

Jumblat has announced that he will stay in the “centrist camp” together with Miqati, Speaker Nabih Berri and President Michel Suleiman.

Hasan was assassinated in a massive car bombing in Ashrafiyeh on October 19. Two other people were killed and more than 100 wounded, as the blast gutted two apartment buildings.

The opposition March 14 forces have blamed Syria for the attack and demanded the resignation of the Hizbullah-led government.

So I guess you understand that the Israelis are a lot more interested in a calm, united and democratic Lebanon.
It is only those pro-Hizballah people who blame Israel for everything that happens in the Middle East.
I am sure that most level-minded people in the whole region can only hope for a future of peace and tranquillity.

You are referring to the same entity that occupied Lebanon for 20 years. The same entity that wreaked havoc in Lebanon in 06. The same entity that currently grows larger on land that according to int law is not Israeli but in fact Palestinian. Yup this entity supports democracy....

no philipo: israel wants lebanon to remain a weak country and divided so that they have nothing to fear economically! if lebanon was stable it could become a big aconomic power in thergion and israel would then have problems!
but israel is happy to have such an ally as hezbollah to make sure lebanon stays weak and poor!
