Saqr Receives Samaha's Investigation File ahead of Filing his Assessment

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr received on Tuesday the investigation file in the case of former Minister Michel Samaha.

He will study the file ahead of making his assessment.

Once complete, he will refer it to First Military Investigation Judge Riyad Abu Ghida, who will then issue an indictment in the matter and refer it to the permanent military court in order for the trials to begin.

Abu Ghida issued on Monday arrest warrants against two Syrian officials over their links to the Samaha case.

The warrants were made against Syrian security chief Ali Mamlouk and a colonel identified only by his first name Adnan.

Samaha was arrested in August and charged with plotting to assassinate Lebanese leaders and of transporting explosives from Syria into Lebanon to carry out attacks in the country's north in an attempt to provoke sectarian strife at the behest of the Syrian regime.

Similar charges were leveled against Mamlouk and Colonel Adnan.
