Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea urged the caretaker cabinet on Saturday to tackle Hizbullah's involvement in the war in the Syrian border town of al-Qusayr during Monday's session, rejecting attempts to revive the 1960's electoral law.

“Hizbullah's participation in the battles alongside the Syrian regime's forces will bring many miseries into Lebanon,” Geagea warned after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkirki.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Thursday that 104 Hizbullah members had been killed in Syria since last autumn.

Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah has said before that his party's involvement in Syria's war aimed at defending 13 Syrian villages along the border where Lebanese Shiites live, and the Sayyeda Zeinab shrine, revered by Shiites around the world.

But on Saturday, however, the Hizbullah chief pointed out that Syria is “the backbone of the resistance, assuring that he will not let this bone break.”

Tackling the electoral matter, the LF leader rejected attempts to revive the 1960's law.

“It is the most dangerous thing that could happen at this time,” he warned.

In its eighth round of talks, the parliamentary electoral subcommittee failed again on Monday to reach an agreement over a new electoral law as Speaker Nabih Berri did not set a date for a new session.

This failure has raised fears of a political vacuum in Lebanon or that the parliamentary elections will be held according to the 1960 law or that the term of the current parliament will be extended.

Monday is the deadline for candidates to file their requests to run for the elections according to the 1960 law.

Which cabinet y'a Hakim has to discuss Hizbullah's involvment in Syria? The cabinet not only is a useless bywatcher of what's going on in Syria and Lebanon, but it is made in Iran! This is the cabinet that could not stop the handing over of the Syrians unwilling to shoot their feloow brethren and seeking refuge on Lebanon. This is the governement that attempted to stop arms being channeled to the Rebels -Asharf El Nass- in Syria, but could not stop the thousands of Hizbollah fighters pouring into Syria. This is the governement who foiled a major plot against the country through the traitor Samaha and was unable to move on with it. Had it happened in Iran, the culprit would have been fed to the crocodiles long ago !
