President Michel Suleiman and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati condemned on Sunday the Mar Mikhael blasts, saying that they are aimed at creating strife in Lebanon.

Suleiman urged in a statement “citizens to exercise the highest levels of diligence to avert strife and maintain national and civil peace.”

He described the assailants as “terrorist saboteurs who do not want peace or stability for Lebanon or the Lebanese people.”

For his part, Miqati said in a statement: “The attacks are aimed at creating security tensions and certain retaliations, given the timing of the incident.”

“We call on all sides to act wisely to prevent those seeking strife to achieve their goals,” he stressed.

Moreover, he urged all leaderships to ease the tensions “during the critical and dangerous phase that the region is passing through.”

Miqati later discussed details of the incident with caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel.

He also requested that the army carry out the necessary investigations in the attack.

Four people were wounded on Sunday when two rockets were fired at Beirut's southern suburbs of Mar Mikhael.

"Rocket Attack Aimed at Creating Strife, Security Tensions"

If only i had a penny every time a politician says that! I would be a millionaire by now!

"Gemayel called on President Michel Suleiman, Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqat, Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to assume their national responsibilities and restore calm in the northern city of Tripoli."

“Why haven't officials imposed a curfew in the city... The government can't protect Tripoli.” the MP wondered."

Indeed why haven't they imposed a simple curfew? Mikati and Suleiman, Ghosn and Charbel are neglecting the security of Lebanon for their own political ends.

That these officials haven't taken action is nothing less than dereliction of duty to their positions. By letting Tripoli fester more violence is assured. And now we see just that happening.

strife is caused by the antichrist sending his fighters to kill the Syrian people in Syria.

Strife is being condoned by the inaction of government ... specifically Mikati and Suleiman ...

They haven't even imposed a curfew on Tripoli after dozens are killed, hundreds wounded and the city paralyzed ...

Now their inaction is seen as a green light for other violence to commence ... The lack of action by Mikati and Suleiman is odious.

I Support your wise decision Sayed to meet the Takfiri cancer in Syria before it shows up in Lebanon. You cannot talk to brainwashed freaks to believe it is their God given right to declare you an infidel and kill you.

Nasrallah has given all the anti-Assad fighters and open invitation.

The Iranian militia will gladly sacrifice Lebanon in order to protect "the back bone of the Resistance". Hizbullah's involvement in Syria has always been about their Glorious Axis and their Glorious weapons. What were those fateful words uttered from the safety of his bunker, the last time Hizbullah carried out the Ayatollah's orders and brought a war into Lebanon... if I only new...

Violence breeds violence. The mask of the traitors has finally dropped. You can't fool everyone around for so long. Resistance my a.s ! A terrorist organisation, involved in drug dealings, in contract killings, and totally commited to the basij ideology and Wali el Fakih. An offshoot of the Pasdaran in Lebanon, with direct reporting lines to Suleimani, and Khamenei. Why should Nasrallah need to go to Tehran in recent days? He is the ruler of Lebanon by the sword. And until the head of his organisation has been cut with the same sword, all the Miqati , Suleiman, Al Rahi, Joumblatt declarations, inside, outside the governement are blown wind !

This Pres and PM are living in fantasyland. Lebanon chooses to involve itsef in a civil war and when the side it is fighting against fires back, Lebanon accuses them of creating strife in Lebanon!! Lebanon needs to be prepapred to fight the FSA on its own territory if it continues to fight them on Syrian territory.

Yes, yes, in the name of stability, Mr. President does nothing but to issue verbal condemnations. Nasrallah, who is not in the government made a speech the other night that completely usurped the authority of the man whose picture appears at the head of this column. What did he say, much less do about the treason that is happening under his very feet? He did nothing. And why? Because he is afraid of just where Hezbollah is in his own government, in the ISF and the LAF, so that if he and the Defense Minister called out the Army to bring in Hezbollah, he does not know that the Army would not split, or even come after him.
