Israeli Warplanes Release Heat Balloons Off Naqoura

Israeli fighter jets on Monday released missile-deflecting heat balloons off the southern town of Naqoura within Lebanon's territorial waters, state-run National News Agency reported.

Earlier, al-Jadeed television said the warplanes released around 10 balloons.

On March 18, Israeli warplanes dropped more than 30 heat balloons between Naqoura and Tyre within two hours.

On Sunday, Israeli warplanes overflew Beirut, the eastern town of Baalbek that borders Syria, and southern Lebanon at low altitude, prompting a call for a complaint with the United Nations.

President Michel Suleiman tasked caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour with filing an urgent complaint with the U.N. over the overflights “which covered all Lebanese regions, including the capital Beirut,” said a terse statement.

The surge in overflights since January comes amid repeated warnings by Israel that the Syrian regime might transfer chemical weapons to Hizbullah.

Two air raids in Syria by Israeli warplanes last month destroyed missiles allegedly destined for Hizbullah. The attacks have sparked fears that the party could hit back.

what will solve the electricity problem is getting hezballah and its followers who refuse to pay for electricity to cut it off for them or get them to pay once and for all instead of 40% percent of the country paying for generator subscription and what not !

What is the purpose of these heat balloons? Do they float with cameras that transmit back or something? Give off heat to attract heat seaking missles? Someone please explain. Thank you

Why? Was it cold?
They were heating up the area because there was no electricity? That's so thoughtful.

A complaint to the UN Security Council because of Israeli overflights. Silence because of Syrian shelling of Lebanese territory and killing Lebanese civilians.
Something very strange here. Any chance of an explanation PLEASE.

Lebanon has a chance to be a successful country with peace.Dont allow terrorist Hezbollah to send rockets at Israel.Israel will continue to fly over Lebanon till Hezbollah is folded.complaining to the un is a waste of time.if there is another war Lebanon will be destroyed even worse.this is not fair to people of Lebanon.Israel left Lebanon .for your kids sakes make peace with Israel.Israel is doing economically very well.the only one that loses is Lebanon and a few civilians who are killed in Israel.

"President Michel Suleiman tasked caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour with filing an urgent complaint..." Mr. President, you should call Baschar or Ahmadinajad and ask HIM to task Adnan Mansour - Mansour only listens to his masters' voice, and his master is no Lebanese.

That's a great picture of a (Romanian?) MIG 21 dispensing flares. What does that have to do with the article?

i hope hizballah gets completely eradicated. Radical Muslims are the worst. Good job Israel, kill them all. USA and Israel are super powers. May they free Lebanon from this terrorist occupation. Hizballah will forever be a bunch of broke Arabs with turbans with an unrealistic goal.
