Kabbara Hits Back after Suleiman Decides to Sue Him over Tripoli Remarks

President Michel Suleiman on Wednesday decided to file a lawsuit against MP Mohammed Kabbara over the lawmaker's accusations concerning the situation in Tripoli, state-run National News Agency reported, confirming an earlier Naharnet report.

Suleiman “asked the Public Prosecution to file a lawsuit against MP Mohammed Abdul Latif Kabbara for accusing the president of collusion” against Tripoli, NNA said.

Informed sources had told Naharnet that “Suleiman is mulling with his legal advisers the possibility of filing a lawsuit against MP Mohammed Kabbara on charges of insulting the Presidency and the Army Command.”

Kabbara snapped back at the president later on Wednesday, saying he “should have asked the Public Prosecution to act after thousands of Hizbullah fighters crossed the border under the eyes of his official security agencies to take part in the Syrian war, instead of urging (Hizbullah chief) Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to withdraw from Qusayr.”

“Unless there is cowardliness to face this reality or collusion to which the Lebanese are supposed to turn a blind eye,” Kabbara added.

On Tuesday, al-Mustaqbal bloc MP Kabbara, who hails from Tripoli, voiced “regret” that Suleiman, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati, Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji and the military institution “seem to be colluded with the Syrian regime.”

He was reciting a statement issued by the National Islamic Gathering following a meeting that was held at his residence to discuss the clashes between the rival Tripoli neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh.

Kabbara called on Suleiman, Miqati, Qahwaji and the army to “shoulder their responsibilities” and prove that they are “seriously entrusted with the country's unity and the safety of its people.”

Seven people were killed and more than 40 wounded in clashes that erupted Sunday in Tripoli. Sniper activity is still ongoing in the conflict zone despite a heavy deployment by the army.

I wouldn't bother doing anything to these lunatics because they are genetically set to self-detonate especially when their sanni-blood reaches unprecedented elevations in altitude and acidity. Those who escape it end up with longer beards, baggier robes and black headbands. After all, I hate to repeat myself when it comes to describing our great good-for-nothing corrupt president-by-parachute, may God bless him and extend his term (and the days of misery we've experienced under his presidency) indefinitely.

Its amazing how the tripoli politicians act towards the army...weve had daher, merheb and kabbara now...when the north was being allowed from the beginning to funnel weapons and fighters in and out of syria that was ok...everytime the army tried to do its job they nullified it with accusations and attacks...weve had troops killed and slaughtered in the north without any real condemnation from them...now they have allowed the instigation of attacks and armed rebellion in the north to let loose...its become obvious they have lost clout with their own in the area and those with guns are controlling things on the ground....NOW they want the army to act? You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Transfer Fatima Maghoul into floating mental asylum for some Lebanese politicians.
The vessel is inside Lebanese water and it is internal matter.
Go and do it as Lebanese might get back their normal life which they deserve.

The army does not have the power to stop the Hizb. At best, they can keep a lid on what is going on in Tripoli till the storm passes. The Hizbis are maniacs and have gone out of control and have put the interest of iran above lebanon's national interest and if the army tried to prevent them, they will destroy it. We are now in crisis management situation

So when did the army stop Lebanese Salafists from entering Syria to fight? Please, if you want to accuse someone of hypicrisy, be consistent.
