Muslim Ulemas: We Will No Longer Assist State in Containing Street Unrest

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Muslim Ulemas accused the state of failing to contain security unrest in Lebanon, blaming Hizbullah for usurping its decision-making power.

Salafist cleric Sheikh Salem al-Rafehi said after a meeting that the Ulemas “will no longer intervene to contain street tensions” after the state failed to perform its duties.

He explained that the Ulemas had repeatedly cooperated to control unrest during numerous security incidents in the past, but they will no longer do so after the state failed them.

Moreover, he revealed that they had reached an agreement on Sunday over a one-hour ceasefire with the fighters in the southern city of Sidon, but it was rejected by the army.

He therefore held the Army Command responsible for the ongoing unrest in the city, while saying that “third parties had intervened in order to maintain the clashes.”

“We hold the army command responsible for the failure of our proposed ceasefire and the consequences that it may incur,” declared al-Rafehi after the meeting that was held in the northern city of Tripoli.

In addition, the cleric stated that eyewitness accounts by the residents of Sidon revealed that members of Hizbullah and the AMAL movement had been taking part in the clashes in the city.

He also revealed that Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir was doing well, denying reports that he had been wounded in the Sidon clashes.

The unrest broke out in Sidon on Sunday between supporters of al-Asir and the army.

The military command said the number of troops killed in the fighting rose to 12. There were also more than 50 injuries among the ranks of the soldiers, but it was not clear how many fighters were killed in the unrest.

The clashes erupted when al-Asir's supporters surrounded an army checkpoint in the area, where a vehicle transporting other supporters of the cleric had been stopped.

After the armed men attacked the troops with gunfire, the army fired back.

and there we go: this is the kind of things I was expecting to happen. now we are in civil war officially.
it is now clear these events were instigated and triggered by hizbushaitan to take control of the country, who was heavily involved in these events.
they are executing plan "B" after they lost all legitimacy when the president sent these letters to the UN and Arab league.
more to come.....

for those who think hizbushaitan is going to stop there: you are illusioned.
we are in for a long war that will have ramifications beyond your imagination.
what hizbushaitan has done? they awakened a sleeping beast: the beast of sunni extremism in Lebanon. now let them handle what is coming.

its called the law of the jungle.there should be no weapons in the hand of anyone who is not in the security forces ..very simple

Missing peace 24 June 2013, 15:21

"you can be sure HA will also have weapons."
so don't cry now if there is a civil war as a consequence of hezbis having weapons! if they have then ALL parties can do the same! it is called fairness to put it blankly! why can one political party have arms and not the others? ...

or if you want a stable country ask hezbis to hand their arms to the army, streghten it with their experience and then you can impose everyone to be disarmed!

otherwise your talks are just plain hypocrusiy!

Thumb geha 24 June 2013, 15:22

let us start by breaking the finger of nasrallah threatening each and every one in the state.
let us catch all these hizbushaitan murderers first wanted by the justice.
let us put the murderes of salman in jail.
let us put back the killer of Samer Hanna in jail.....
this is how it should have been done.

Missing peace 24 June 2013, 15:32

for your knowledge mowaten i will applaud too if they get assir but i will even applaud more the day your militia is dismantled to bring at last peace on lebanon unlike you.....

for your information mowaten that finger is the main reason people like assir are on the rise.
and as far as you threatening me with that finger, well you know where you can put that finger.... :)

Default-user-icon Real Mowaten (Guest) 24 June 2013, 15:59

You're saying HA "Cooperated" with the army ? Please tell me when ? When they jailed Samer Hanna's killer for a couple of months ?

When they provided the killer of Salman shot in front of the Army ? Or when the army closes their eyes on Hezbollah's actions because they "know" what's happening ... they "cooperate"...

When did they protect the country ? They only protect themselves and have turned their weapons against their "countrymen" so many times.

Resistance to Israel you say ? Hezbollah has killed and murdered more lebanese and syrians than Israelis so don't you mention their role against Israel.

You are the propaganda mouthpiece of the resistance. Resistance to establishing a Lebanese State. Resistance to a Free Lebanon.

Hassan Nassrallah is no better than Assir and both should be hanged by their filthy Islam insulting beards. Calling them Sheikh or Sayyed should also be a mortal sin ...

Default-user-icon Real Mowaten (Guest) 24 June 2013, 16:15

As expected ... you're completely incapable of answering my questions. Facts are facts ... they cannot be stubborn.

What's stubborn are your false accusations that you shoot left and right. What's stubborn is calling my arguments "camel dung" because you are completely incapable of proving me wrong.

You have exposed the limit of your reasoning and propaganda spreading capabilities... I think they should replace you with someone more capable and this should not be difficult...

Hezbollah's presence in Lebanon cannot be more legitimate than Assir's. The moment you condemn Assir's horrible actions and defend Hezbollah, it means you are either a complete ignorant and a fool, or a propagandist.

Default-user-icon Real Mowaten (Guest) 24 June 2013, 17:07

You call insulting arguing ?

You have failed without even trying... you have just shown everyone how helpless you are.

As a propagandist, you should keep spending your time spreading lies instead of facing the truth.

Ignore my comments or insult me like you only know how to do because in the end, there is nothing you can answer to plain logic which is already more complex than what your narrow mind can grasp.

Vive la resistance aux imbeciles pour qui le monde se limite a 2 camps, pour qui le dialogue veut dire monologue et pour qui debat veut dire combat.

"He also revealed that Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir was doing well, denying reports that he had been wounded in the Sidon clashes"
So he knows were Assir is? He's nothing more than a conspirator with that foreign funded animal. He should be tried for treason, and Assir and his men should be executed. The Army is responsible for defending itself and the people of Saida from these terrorists, Assir is responsible for starting and continuing the conflict. No mercy!

now you have sunni extremism against shia in Lebanon: this is the creation of hizbushaitan actions.
you gave them martyrs which will lead the way for explosions and suicide bombings for years to come.
are you happy idiot?

Missing peace 24 June 2013, 15:17

poor hezbis... all the current unrest is the result of M8 stubborness to protect hezbis and their arsenal... when ONE party is allowed to hold weapons it was foreseeable that others would do the same! why double standards? it is mathematic.... all the experts told it... M14 warned from that... but M8 to keep their privileges just hid their heads in the ground and now they are crying like offensed virgins... more hypocrit than that you cannot find.... so blame M8 not those who armed themselves as a result to the lack of a strong state carefully kept as such by hezbis.....

Who on earth do these salafists think they are making threats to? The saying must be true, in KSA the kings dogs are kings. All these thugs are KSA puppies barking wanting to be heard. The army will crack the biggest skull within your extremist organization ya salem el-rafehi. And I am certain that your masters are fully aware of this fact. Your people are responsible for the blood of honorable Lebanese soldiers and you dare to make a public comment as this.
